Kask helmets

Can I get the hot pink one Bull???

On the back please letter " If you can read this, why are you not calling 911 stupid? "

On the front " I wear pink to remind you that you are the princess"

I may have to splurge on one of these. The fixed visors look nice. Did they have the visors on display at TCIA? If so, what you think? I would like to see one in person before ordering.

So these are not E-rated? My work requires the e-rating and the helmet they bought for me (vertex) sucks and doesn't fit my tiny head...

IMO, black helmets are a terrible idea. It's easier to spot a brightly colored dome bouncing around on the ground. I had a dark green Pacific (that I didn't like) that got a few complaints from the other climbers in the company.

New lids look cool, kind of steep in price!

Black??? My peanutty brain gets cooked wearing a white ball cap. Not gonna be wearin' a dark helmet.

The one that I got is hi viz lime green. Even at 80 degrees today the sweat was dripping.

I did an easy flopper takedown today. Having the faceshield was a fine addition.

hey tom do you think that was from the helmets not being as well ventilated as the petzl with vents? am i correct in saying you dont have to wear safety classes underneath?

I think that the venting is better on the Kask. at least there are more holes but they're covered with fine mesh so that impedes heat movement. My Ecrin is a solid helmet [yellow], no vents so I'm familar with a hot head.

Yes...eye pro is required. the face shield is not approved as Z87.1 eye pro. That said...and this is NOT an endorsement for not wearing eye pro...it sure seems like the faceshields would give me more protection than any glasses. In the few times that I've worn the new Kask and my other Stein with the faceshields I have MUCH less sawdust going in my eyes. But, I do wear glasses underneath. One of these days I might cut up some firewood away from work to see if the face shield does an adequate job of keeping chips and dust out of my eyes. At work I will NOT go without Z87.1 eye pro, I need the bifocal/cheaters in my safety glasses sometimes :)

Dorian (TreeWeaver) has a really sexy dark grey one. I've tried Dorian's and both of Tom's & they seem great. I'm expecting a sample in the mail any day now and expect to be keeping these on the shelf in the store. One concern that I have with these helmets is the foam suspention and that under impact they may not disapate enough energy to reduce on prevent neck injury. Time will tell, sweet helmet.

If you do get the helmet with the clear visor, you may still end of with a problem seeing in raining conditions.

If you find that this is the case, use this stuff applied to the visor. There is nothing better for keeping rain and fog off of a faceshield.

DO NOT USE Rainex or other automotive windshield solutions. These products have harsh chemicals that will irritate the eyes.

According to Matt at Silky the Hi-Viz colors were going to be more expensive. (At least $10 more if I remember correctly).

Full disclosure. I make Raincoat and Fogtech.

Just wanted to thank you for the referrals to my website.

To be clear, Raincoat repels water drops, usually off the outside of a shield. Fogtech absorbs fog and is usually applied to the inside of the shield, goggles or glasses.

I am continuing to improve my products, especially Raincoat. So stay tuned.

Welcome to the Buzz Gene. How'd you hear about the site?

Thank you for the welcome. My website has been getting a lot of hits from your site and I was curious.

I had always thought that people who work with trees could use my products.

If any of your members want samples of Fogtech and Raincoat to see if they could improve their vision, I could post how to get them.
