When I was in high school one of my gymnastics teammates @Paul Hiltunen would buy albums, put them on tape and we'd listen to them while practicing our side horse sets. Paul and I had a couple of classes together. One day he was beside himself and giddy about an album he bought. We couldn't get to
The gym fast enough after classes to give it a listen. From the first note I was taken

@john prime singing "Illegal Smile", "Flag Decal", "Sam Stone" and the rest made me a life long fan

Prine has taken the words we all use and arranged them in strings that will stop me in my tracks

Imagine my surprise when I was looking on Prine's webpage and found that he was a gymnast too! And...side horse!

John's got a new album...yes...album...after all that's when I grew up!

Yes...two wonderful voices. Bonnie sang that with Richard Thompson at a show I saw

Another duet that works. Prine writes plays in a lot of his songs. Some have three acts in three minutes

This afternoon I was listening to our Community Radio station, KFAI. The host setup his first songs by saying that he spent the seventies and early eighties listening to Steve Goodman, David Bromberg and John Prine. Same for me! Story tellers...wordsmiths...and dang good musicians

Goodman...died too early
Bromberg...back touring again
Prine...survivor with such a sparkle

Big fan of Bromberg. I think the only albums of his that I have on CD are How Late'll Ya Play 'Til? and Wanted Dead or Alive but there might be a lot more on vinyl in the attic down at the old house. I think I set a big, old, heavy box of vinyl on a piece of plywood to keep some coons out of there.

When I lived in Austin I went to see Bromberg at the Cactus Cafe. A small venue...maybe 150 seats. It was the beginning of his return to The stage after years working as a luthier. He played so many favs and told stories like Prine does

At the end of the show the MC announced that our tickets were good upstairs at the ballroom for the reunion of the Flatlanders! Wow...two fer one! Great music night

This is one of my favorites.

He’s supposed to be here next weekend I just noticed.

I plan to be there.
