Jobber Software

For me, I would like to see some tight integration with iOS. Jobber does so much, but I rely on iOS daily.

I'd like to see contact and calendar syncing with iCloud. Right now in Routzy I can in a few clicks import client info from the iPad. I need client info in iCloud so I can tell Siri to call a client for me. But I also need the info in Routzy so I can make the estimates. Anything you can do to bridge the gap and prevent me from having to typethe info into both would be awesome.

Can the calendar sync with iCloud? I love being able to ask Siri what I'm doing on Tuesday. As is, with Jobber I would have to input an event in your calendar, then put it in AGAIN I'm iCloud. That isn't going to happen. As the saying goes, "ain't nobody got time fo dat!"

The invoice and estimate template is AWESOME. I love that I can format it. I've asked the Routzy people for this and it's not a priority for them. It worked seamlessly and when I read it, it sounds like something I just sat and naturally typed.

I'll keep playing with it. I have a feeling my company won't make the full switch until there is a good iPad and iPhone app- but I look at a new software program every week and most of them are quickly abandoned. I'm keeping my eyes on Jobber?

Hey Nick,

Thanks for the feedback. I hear you on the "ain't nobody got time fo dat" front. All of this can be done without any duplicated effort or typing at all

Jobber's clients can be exported in vCard format, which can easily be imported into your iOS contacts, and then used against Siri

You can subscribe to the Jobber calendar from the Calendar iOS app, which will automatically pull all of the calendar items into your phone from Jobber, which can then be queried using Siri.

The main benefit to the application not being a native iOS app is that you get access to all the new functionality and improvements that we're adding on an ongoing basis. If it was a native app you would have to wait until we had our upgrade approved and included in the app store.
That being said we do have plans to release native apps for iOS and Android on our road map.

Thanks,

That would take too much time. What you described works perfectly when i have that first major import, but day to day, we'd be adding 1 or 2 clients and we would NOT be taking the time send them via vCard format. Right now routzy can import a new client in 4 clicks on the ipad app. What you are asking to do requires me to hop on the computer, so it could only happen at the office.

Cool about the Jobber calendar already syncing with iCloud. Does it keep track of all edits on the app? I've tried some programs that would allow me to add to the calendar but it couldn't handle edits.

I think for iOS users, we'd rather have to wait an extra week or two for the smooth function of a well thought-out app than to have to deal with a webpage.

I just tried bringing in a new client and you're right. Whole process, 30 seconds or less. No prob ....except....you HAVE to do it from the computer, right?

I can't figure out a way to do it from the iPad which means I can't do it from the field.

Hi Michael,

There are certainly pro's and con's to any of the business software systems available for field service companies, here are a few of the differences Jobber has with respect to Service CEO

I'll start with the obvious, Price. No matter how you break it down; Jobber at $29/mth will provide similar core services to help your business at a fraction of the cost of the $95/mth or $125/mth from ServiceCEO. I believe they also make you sign a one year contract which you'll never have with us.

Of course, not every service company is run the same way. CEO has a lot of features, and there's lots to learn to get up and running. If you think you need all of this stuff to be successful then they might be for you and would be a fine choice. From where I stand, the major differences that I see are marketing and customer portal - we don't offer these things and won't any time soon as we prefer to focus on being the best at our core services.

We're a modern software company first and foremost; professional software developers & engineers that built (and continue to develop and maintain) Jobber from the ground up by consulting with a number of companies with different work flows and requirements in order to design easy to use, robust and flexible software that accommodates your business, rather than the other way around. Our guiding philosophy in getting to this point and in going forward is simplicity — we focus on keeping Jobber easy to learn, and easy to use, without anything extraneous getting in the way.

In the end the right software is an important business decision that you can only make with the information available to you; sometimes option A will be the right choice, and other times option B will be.

Jobber is modern software with a modern approach, and we're making waves for it. We do what we can to make it as easy as possible for you to learn about us and give us a try, so that you can make the right decision for your business, and we're constantly iterating and improving our product, the way a good software company should.

Sorry for the novel, hope that helps Michael.

Hey Nick,

You are correct, as far as I know, this must be done from a computer.

Also, the calendar works in a subscription format, meaning that it won't be able to display edits done outside of Jobber.

These are things that we will address with the release of our own app, however I don't want to make promises I cannot keep so that is what we have to work around for now.

Hey Nick,

I don't have iCal on my workstation but it might be similar to this. Look for a "Set up" or "Sync" link at the bottom of the calendar. Should be able to follow the prompts from there.

Im doing the jobber trial right now despite my service ceo membership. I wish i had known about this like 30 days ago. It is much more user friendly. I am having trouble uploading my entire client list and will probably be calling customer service tomorrow.

I never knew about calendar "subscriptions." That is cool. It took me a whopping ten seconds to set it all up. Just copy and paste the link.

So I can make changes on the Jobber website and those updates WILL show on icloud, but not the other way around, right?

Here's my two cents:

I really liked jobber and the team behind it however I decided against it because it doesn't yet manage a larger volume or a large variety of jobs after point of sale. For example if I make a sale for pruning now, sprays in the spring and soil treatment in the fall, it won't separate that one quote into multiple jobs that I can queue and schedule at a later date. I need it to be able to group all my bt sprays and all my vert mulches together for better planning and scheduling for example.

I don't doubt that the jobber team will adjust the software to accommodate these needs eventually but for now it is not available. They haven't indicated that this is a priority for them so they can't make any promises on time.

I'd also like software to remind me to call a client in 3 years for example for a pruning follow up call. I realize a calendar can do that but calendars can so quickly get jammed with junk that they area impossible to follow.

I think real green will do all this but there is still the mobility issue. That may be fixed with a new laptop/tablet combo with 4g or a phone tether. The new ms surface machines looks pretty good.

All the info resides solely on my iPad.

Nick, where are you at if you lose/have stolen your iPad?

This is where i love cloud stuff.

I've been running everything possible that way for some time now and were sure glad when 2 computers got stolen last year.

Hi Michael,

That is too bad, for you and for us. Did you have to sign some sort of contract with them? Also, did you get the client list figured out as well?

Thanks for the feedback. We love hearing stuff like that!

That is correct. I was going to clarify that you can make these change anywhere (computer, phone, tablet) but it sounds like you use an ipad for everything!

Jeff

The truth is I use my iphone and iPad for 75% of everything and use the Mac occasionally. I also will have one office person using an iPad to access jobber.

We run a paperless company and jobber works for that for sure!
