Jackson magnolia removal @ White House

If it does indeed go, perhaps someone can ensure another sprout from the tree will be planted, somewhere...maybe multiple sprouts!

You’re right. I didn’t read far enough into the article. Sounds like that tree lives on in numerous places already.

Certainly just a rubber stamp on the recommendations. The occupants essentially behave as the "owner" of the White House when it comes to such decisions.

I think that is a little strange - should leave it up to experts that will span administrations.

Things are surely diluted or mid-represented in most articles, but the line that gets me is “it would have failed”. Suppport systems aren’t limited to cables alone. So many other means exist.

If it’s a legacy plant, it carries the history in many ways, and perfect aesthetic is out the window. Celebrate the defects, and support them properly.

Staff at the national Arboretum assessed it. I know one of them from North Carolina State University.
These guys do not have the consulting arborist experience to be doing that kind of work.

But the ISA tells them that they can, if they just spend a weekend taking the TRAQ course,. The vaguespeak format allows anyone to be a consultant!
According to several TRAQ trainers, that course can be passed by a blind monkey. (No offense to those who took the test.)

If Davey did the support system work, why don’t they speak up about this?
