Jackson magnolia removal @ White House

Looking at some of the photos of the tree and seeing that one of the trunks could be (generously) called a half-pipe, considering that the support system was losing effectiveness as the tree declined, subject tree routinely buffeted by high winds generated by a large helicopter departing and arriving at close proximity to subject tree, while at that same time human targets (journalists) are concentrated beneath the fall line of the tree.....and the tree was pruned, not removed. I've got to say, reduction pruning seems a very reasonable mitigation in light of the reported defects, targets and probable consequences of a failure. As I follow this thread I'm seeing a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking based on photos and news articles, and TRAQ bashing all without actual on site evaluation of the tree, or having actually taken TRAQ.

The video I saw was one lower branch being removed; no reduction pruning. Did I miss something?

No surprise that the communications did not match the action. Maybe they fed CNN alternative facts, and "faked" them out!

No comment on the report until the whole report is seen. Public tree, public info, right?
