What’s Your SMALLER Equipment Setup?

The flaps are no bother.

I'm very comfortable leaning into my bigger chipper. At the normal height and tray size, I only feel vulnerable to an accident if I'm feeding from uphill (very low tray).

I've fed medium, hydraulic chippers (bc1000 and Bandit 250).

With a chuck and duck, if the worse happens, someone is losing fingers or a hand, maybe an arm. Hydraulic feed rollers are not something you can pull out of.

About 6 years ago, I had a fill-in from a day-labor company.

He went home at lunch and didn't come back. He ended up saying his friend lost an arm up to the elbow in a chipper accident very

It's not like I'm afraid of it, just very aware, like all things.

I'm only called Reckless Sean as a joke on occasion.

The lower bar is your reference point, I’ve never felt vulnerable using a TW unless I’m doing something sketchy, in which case I have my thigh tight up against the safety bar.
Which incidentally is always working perfectly.

I make a point to zip all pockets and don't want anyone wirh hammer loops on carpenter pants.

I've had my open jacket pocket get caught and the jacket rip at the pocket.

I'm just very aware that hydraulic- feed chippers are the people eaters, like being very aware of vehicles near work zones.

I'm not losing sleep over it.

That's the only safety issue that I have had to remind people about really regularly, and it freaks me out so much. I reeeeeaaally don't want to see someone go into a chipper, but guys are always forgetting about pockets, loops, and worst of all, chaps. I don't understand how so many people have such terrible self preservation instincts

There's a reason so many warning signs exist.

Children are really good at finding ways to hurt themselves because they lack the education and experience necessary to apply critical thinking to situations. Some children never grow up.

That's almost exactly what I say when I see ridiculous behaviour! I will say to whoever else is with me, "Some people's children ", and point discreetly.

Obviously not when its something life threatening; just when it's strangers out and about and it would be innappropriate to call them out directly.

Ever use an older morbark? Very short infeed to the wheels, also very low to the ground and the bottom also slopes downwards.
More about knee height and I can imagine how tempting it would be to push small stuff in with a foot!
They wound up doing a recall or shipped out a infeed extension but still pretty sketch.
I think there is some law or standard that is the minimum distance from the feed wheels to the ground. Thus raising the height and length of the infeed making it harder to reach in far enough to get caught in the wheels.

I broke a blade, somehow. Marthe a hard chunk that was max capacity or something.

Got new blades installed.

I have to install the tongue/ coupler.
Slow to fill the truck and backing up the chipper will be murder!!!

I'm going to tow it around a trail system we cut/ cleared. Invasive holly to chip.

I'll trailer the chipper to the jobsite where my mini loader is parked.

Played with my toy.

My neighbor only has a tractor so more of a pusher tool resulting in concrete, soil and debris against a field wire fence (cows). I cleaned up outside to practice, tidy up, and get greater access to the last bay into the shop on the left.
