Hey guys,
Just wondering if you guys have had any expieriance with the 10mm tenex prusick eye &eye, Tide with vt to lava or ivy. I just bought the tenex the other day to try something other than beeline. I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet.

In my opinion, your jump to tenex as a friction cord is a jump backward. It's ability to handle heat is far less then that of a beeline.

What was the reason for the change from beeline to tenex?

In my experience, tenex is a very strong material but it doesn't hold up well to friction applications.

If you are simply asking if it will hold a knot, yes it will, but I don't think you will be overly happy with how long the tenex will last when compaired to something like beeline.

I was in need of some new cordage and picked up my usual 10mm beeline and saw the tenex. I thought i would give the tenex a try since i never used it before. So i bought the two of them to compare the difference. I'll give the tenex a try next week. Oh well

I think you will like it. Tenex has great action and sets a VT better than any other cord I've used.

Problem is, like Marc said, it's not nearly as heat resistant as technora. You don't want to smoke out of a tree on it with bees chasing you. It's generally not as durable and picks if you're not careful.

I you decide you like it, try icetail, it's the closest thing that has improved heat resistance.

I use HRC most of the time but tenex or icetail will save the day if you get pine pitch all over your rope... when the HRC jams on a sappy rope, icetail slides just right.

I agree with all the above. Spend a little extra dough and get the ice. Same feel but wont melt. Same splice also. I used tenex for a short while and melted it a couple of times. It dont take much. Ended up using my fig8 allot more when I climb on tenex.

I use a short tenex on tachyon with a vt. Tenex increases contact with the rope and advances easy. I have a beeline eye to eye but find that every once in a while it gets a little too loose and the knot doesn't hold. Ef that!

I think one of the reasons I bought the tenex in adition to my beline was to se the difrence between the to. I think i was geting frustrated with my 10mm beline locking up on my lava using a vt a couple of weeks agoe. but I have come to the conclution that i was running the beeline for way to long, it was all kinds of deformed and melted. I was running it for one full climbing year.
