I asked around at work today. One of the guys said downtown is were they all are and they all are good. YMMV

What's the St. Louis-style BBQ about? I mean like Ribs? Brisket? Pollo? Sweet or savory?

Maybe the Bass-o-Matic can help with the blending of the four ingredients.

I can't help you on the Sushi front, but if you pick up free copy of the RFT (River Front Times) there will be ads for sure. BBQ is good depending on the style you like. A lot of Pork, a lot of ribs. Dry rubs, not too heavy on the sauce, similar to Memphis style is what you'll find. Al's is a place just South of Forest Park. On Hampton between 64/40 and I-44. Bandannas is a local favorite. It's a chain, but a darn good one. The closest one to the conference is probably across the river in Edwardsville.

Coffee is easy. We have Starbucks on every corner, just like every place in America, though a lot of the ones here will be closing soon. We also have Kayaks which is next to Forest Park on either Skinker or Big Bend, I forget. Kaldi's is a good coffee shop also, aside from Chesterfield Valley, which I doubt you make it out to, unless you want to go see the local Vermeer dealer. If you find yourself in Olivette, another haul from the conference, check out Lamar Donughts on Olive street.

You didn't ask, but if you like Italian, you have to check out the Hill. What most people know as "St. Louis" is actually aver a hundred of independent cities, which have evolved their own regional characteristics. The area known as 'The Hill' is distinctly Italian influenced and has some great resturants as well. Charlie Gido's started on the Hill and is now an anchor at Harrah's Casino.

The casinos are a great place to get fed as well, you might even find sushi there!. Lumier is within walking distance of the confernce hotel. Lacledes Landing has more resturants and bars than you can shake a stick at, and if I recall a brewery that makes real beer, without RICE!!

If you care for a drive along the River Road, Highway 3 on the IL. side, go North past the Piasas Bird into Grafton and check out the Fin Inn. On the Right side of the highway, the Finn Inn has some of the best Catfish and Buffalo ((fish)yes we eat that here) that you'll be able to find.

Don't forget to stop into Fast Eddies Bon Aire. Old School bar food featured on Whatever show that was on the Food Network that has Alton Brown scooting up the Mississippi on a motor scooter, eating as much fried food as his tail pipe could handle.

Yes I do like the area, and I do like to eat. But, there is so much more to Missouri that what you'll see in St. Louis. I guess thats gonna have to be another thread on another board.

Someone mentioned BEER. We have beer as you've likely heard in the news. AB/INBEV. My personal opinion. AB and the Clydsdales are a St. Louis tradition, I'll go as far a National Treasure (check out the history), but RICE has no place in beer. Not REAL BEER. Schlafly's and O'fallon brewery are some good local brews. There are a couple more as well, but I'm not gonna let just anyone into my basement!

If you didn't know, Missouri is also WINE COUNTRY! We have a number of wineries that produce award winners.

If you can't find enough to eat, drink, see and do while you'r here, with enough left over to stay another week as well, then you just haven't looked around!
