ISA certification

During the winter as part of my job, i do a fair amount of falling (150-200 trees) and trimming of trees to keep right of ways and easements intact. This is all an private land and none of the trees would be considered a hazardous removal or anything, but the more i do it the more interested i get. So just as a personal interest and goal, id like to work towards getting an isa certification and maybe eventually learn to climb. The ISA website says i need three years of full time experience to even apply for the test. Do any of you have any thoughts or ideas on how i can fulfill this goal without quitting my job and going to work for a tree service? Or maybe some good books to read about trees. Thanks in advance for any insight you can give.

This is mostly smoke being blown... take a two year degree in a related field? I had three other certified arborist and my employers wife willing to write letters explaining my work history with the person who brought me in the industry. He died in a work accident. The ISA said no and they wouldn’t accept it, and I had to start over.
When I finally got around to taking the test they never checked any of my history at all. Passed with a 98% overall, in and out of the computer lab in 45 minutes. Got in trouble for laughing at the questions.
It’s just a GED of the industry and the only place to start. Read up, and don’t stress too hard they want your money
