is there anything more evil incarnate?

I have tried every throw line possible and target line that Wesspur sells works superb no tangles and it can be quite accurate slides well too for a bigger line. Also very visible color orange and yellow. Zing it tears my head off. Maybe if I had to continually isolate 100 foot crotches i would reach for it but 40 to 70 is the norm so Target for me.

I HATE Target line. Just MHO...

Well maybe i will pull one of my other many lines out, and give them a try again maybe I am missing something although I don't think so. Been quite accurate with Target line. I don't like tangles fine lines like zing it and even fling it get tangled to easily. Need more patience for them although i agree they can reach higher tosses. Just my opinion.

I thInk that's what throwlines come down to. Personal preference and task at hand. They all have their place, but my line cube isn't the place for target line. yours may be, and that is great.

Back to the topic :)
I agree target line tangles less.
One thing I have tried to reduce tangling is every now and then take my throwline up a tree and hold it in the middle and let it dangle with weights on each end to get all the twists out. This is kinda time consuming, but so is dealing with the knots.

I hope I explained that well enough...

I like your reply lumberjackson and I here ya. Personal preference is the deal, each throwline has it's place. I still contend that it's main objective is to set a climb line therefore as an arborist I don't have time meddling with 200' of zing it when I need to cut some wood. However if a 100' crotch is the intended target out it comes plus the big shot my trusted companion. Here is a picture of my throw weight gear, it certainly ain't lacking and I do know how to get that stuff in a tree whether manually or with fire power. Target line for me though. Stay safe and keep cool dude from the tropics where life is truly laid back. Paul.Ps the 460 in my throw bucket which I flake line in ( utilitarian ) is to cut the throwline in case I get pissed enough and the DMM block (new) is my ultimate throw weight. Hee Hee.

I love Zing-it but sometimes I hate it.
I agree that the red seems to be more tangly.
I also agree that high humidity or wet line causes more, nastier tangles
I didn't think Fling-it was any better or worse about tangling.
Big shots seem to cause more tangles than throwing, probably because of the speed it comes out of the bag.
I thoroughly agree that state of mind has everything to do with good throwing AND fast untangling.
I'm just used to untangling. I have one line now that's fairly new and it tangles more than my older backup line. It could be related to particular production runs.

Throw line only gets more evil in the forest. I've had a good attitude about it but yesterday the dead birch twigs and wild roses got to me. Way better working with it on turf.

Here in Barbados our trees are mostly cluttered canopies which can wreck havoc with throwline of every type. I have them all, i ain't cheap when it comes to gear that helps me be more productive. However today whilst deadwooding 3 mahogany trees my patience was tested each crotch being about 60 feet and dense canopy. Using the bigshot I was pathetic took 7 shots on one that would usually get on the first try. I am okay at hand throwing but in dense foliage I run for power. Well got the job done but was disappointed with my poor shots. Some days I am in the zone, no tangles accurate shots or throws. Have to admit I should practice more but with a new baby this is not presently possible. I generally prefer bigger diameter throw lines as Gerry Berenek say the object is to set the line do what work's for you, I certainly do. Paul.

I throw 1.75 zing it and agree it tangles a little more than some other lines but it can be easier to work with if you treat it properly straight off the spool. First I'll unroll it from the spool on a spindle, like a roll of tp. Next I'll tie on a bag and launch the line in a direction where I have enough room to lay the entire line out. After that anchor the end to something solid. Then, with gloved hand, keeping a very tight grip on the line, I'll walk out to the thrown end. This will remove most of the twist that causes tangles and it mealts the coating on the line so when it cools down it holds the line straight instead of in little ringlets like on the spool. Repeat as nessisary. Works for me

The only way to overcome the evil hordes of line tangling demons is to clear your mind of all distracted thought. I have a rather existential relationship with my throwline. It does not seem to matter what kind of throwline I use, if I am not in my "Kung Fu" mindset when I start, those pesky birdnests wind up mid line on what would otherwise be a great throw. Clear your mind Grasshopper, be one with the throwline. Magic!

I will second that.

How does it work that when you finally get the perfect shot your standing on the line and the wieght stops inches from the bullseye. It's the old keeping your eye on the prize I suppose.

I got the 1000' roll of 1.75 zingit. The inside half of the spool has some nasty kinks in it, they are sharp enough to cause constant tangles. Takes a long time to smooth it out. Especially when it just sits in the box.
