Im back.

SRT is still gaining more and more, there’s some more SRT multiscenders, notably the Akimbo and probably the HitchHiker 2 and HitchHiker X. Petzl makes their own Rope Wrench called the Chicane, only it’s not like the Rope Wrench because they say so and money. Weaver Leather is bullying one of the smaller gear manufacturers in hopes of owning the knee ascender market, the little guy makes a superior product.
You might have seen the beginnings of low friction rigging rings being used for medium and heavy rigging, and that has grown in leaps and bounds. For many folks they’ve replaced blocks for most rigging applications that don’t call for lifting. Definitely look into some ring slings.

I’m sure there’s much much more, maybe it’ll come to me after some caffeine intake. Browse the SRT forum and the Rants and Raves forum, there’s some great info and conversation.

Welcome back man. Bet it feels good to put that place behind you.
I’m noticing a Ranger Tab on your helmet in the avatar. Couple of the biggest badasses I worked with in the Army were ex Rangers, thanks for serving man.

Thanks guys. Its good to be back. Fortunately I was able to get on an inmate wildland firefighting crew while I was locked up. When we weren't on a fire we were doing fire and flood mitigation work so I was able to still do tree work. I had a Sherrill catalog an ISA certification study guide to keep my mind occupied. I pretty much wore both of those things out.

My first order of business is to buy a rope wrench and get adjusted to that. I was on the cusp of switching over when I got hemmed up. Believe it or not I knew two other tree climbers who were locked up with me, one of which was on my fire team. What's up with climbers being outlaws?

And yes I was an Army Ranger for 10 years. I was a Ranger Instructor at the mountain phase and taught mountaineering for a couple of years.

PM me and I will send you a new ISC Phlotich hitch climber pulley to put underneath your wrench....Hopefully it will help get you back in the saddle.....And welcome back homie....

There's a cold weather SERE training site that a ranger I took a course with went to and a local retired ranger teaches survival at. Think it is run by the Navy tho. Sounded wicked, in a bad way.

Is it a civilian course? I don't think TRADOC runs anything like that up that way. There is an assault climbers and lead climbers course at Camp Jericho VT. That is a National Guard course. It's pretty high speed for a Guard school.
