FIRST THIS IS NOT ME!!!! AND, THIS IS DANGEROUS.

And we're worried about backups - this guy isn't!

I just ran across this on YouTube. This is an accident waiting to happen. I think it was Blinky that posted an old adage, and I paraphrase, "In tree work, it's not a matter of IF you get hurt, but WHEN."

At least he'll have a video record to share with the world when he does fall.

The sincerity and authority that so many of these 'instructional' videos are presented and accepted continues to amaze me.

Just to play devil's advocate, I think this is to demonstrate how to get up a tree while traveling in the bush and using it as an escape method; say when trying to avoid a bear... just a thought......

Think he was going for the survival part of it. As in when you need to get to a high point to see where you might be or have to go.

this is where we get into the difference between recreational tree climbing and proffessional tree climbing. nothing wrong with climbing a tree like that when your out having fun. He only went up like 12 feet. Good lil trick. what a thicket he was in though eh?

Why didn't the bear start by snapping the branches in a circular pattern to get the best leverage? I guess he missed the video!

I just went outside the hotel and broke the limbs on a white pine to about ten feet up. I then tried his technique, it worked good. Then again, I used live limbs and not dead ones. I am off to find a tree with dead limbs, wish me luck.
