How would you remove this broken dead tree that's resting on a nearby tree?

Here is a very similar situation, and a method that might work. I see the power box near by that will require avoiding or maybe protecting in some way, and the break on the trunk of course needs to be weak enough for the upper portion to separate, but it's something to consider:

Edit: only by someone who knows what they are doing that is...

Exactly.. we don't need to overthink a job when simple force can do the trick... Once again, keep your feet on the ground when you can. That's a basic safety principle. Nice video! Thanks for sharing

I'm the main mess maker here too Daniel. I sometimes do things that are expedient for getting that one job done but not the wisest thing for long term longevity. When I do something like that it occurs to me that I couldn't let an employee do it and if I were to and OSHA got involved I would get creamed - and rightfully so.

You're attempting to teach over the Internet. The methods you teach should be safely reproducible two times or two thousand times over a persons career. What you suggest on this tree isn't even wise one time for a very experienced person let alone someone behind a keyboard that you have never met or worked with.

Please think of the person that takes your advise.

That tree would be on the ground faster than this one, while Scott and Rico were just getting the climbing gear out of the truck.

Surely you are not suggesting that the OP do something as silly and dangerous as try and perform a slice cut on a tree with the hung up busted top?

Surely you are not suggesting that making a cut from a loader bucket is somehow relevant to the OP's tree?

he asked how would you do it. he didn't ask how should I do it, nor share his level of experience in the OP. I answered the question as asked. maybe that was a mistake
