How do you do this?

Wondering how to measure a boulevard for tree planting. No one has ever shown me how to, yet I'm expected to go out and measure and mark. I know you have to measure the width of the street, but what do you do after that part is figured?

It's the right-of-way you want to stay within. You can measure from the center of the roadway typically 33' or half the total road allowance of 66'. Often it's measured as 10' from the curb the assumption being the built road is 23' from center to curb. Situate the planting site within the allowance but set back sufficiently from any built form to allow for growth.

This is a typical town street. But multi lane and higher speed zone can be wider.

On this note ask your employer it's there job to make sure you are safely trained to do your task. You have the right to know how to do it right and safely. Don't be afraid to ask
