homemade pully saver?

Here is my third iteration pulleysaver, just finished today. Got super thick, braided vinyl tubing at the hardware store, seems to have all the right properties. Psyched to start playing with it! The prussic for the pinto is spliced amsteel.

I made a mock up using hard PVC on the eye, but that allowed the pulley to slide over the eye very easily when used in non-choked configuration. So in other words, it sucked and I didn't use it.

Not including materials, right?

Look at it this way, $120 + Pinto (sm $43, lg $70) + cost of rope (about $30 depending) + shipping for all the stuff to get everywhere (another $30?)= about $223 - $250.

Or, if you looked into this at all you would know that you can just buy one for $190 and it won't be made by some random person in their garage.

Jeez Josh, just spend the few bucks, get a rope wrench and be done with all that redundant DdRT spending and climbing...;)remember, you still CAN'T install a pulleySaver/friction saver from the ground, and they don't always retrieve either, I had one, sold it when I went rope wrench, even keeping it loose, it would still stick sometimes, then you have to set another line to rescue it, seems lame to me.

I never use a F-saver now, never have to isolate a crotch ( unless I want to), and my rope always comes out, even after 20 redirects :)

CraigD, I'd watch out with an eye that big. I made one similar and it didnt work very well. I decided to stop using it when the prussik pulled through the eye and made me drop a foot. Luckily I wasnt in a weird position or anything but it could have sucked. Thats why I made the eye smaller on my new one.

thanks, the eye seems to work well haven't had any issues with the pulley coming through when underload and we have been using them like this for the past 6-8months. I find with a smaller eye, it makes it much harder to retrieve from a pole when the RG/PS is chocked around pole. cheers though
