Hitch Hiker DRT idea

Here is an idea I came up with while trying to find a DRT Setup with the hitch hiker. Is this cool or totally crazy? what are your guys thoughts on it?
The knot can't pass through the becket, and i can't see the knot coming undone (it's the hitch hiker knot). I think it would tend better with the shackle setup also.

Ddrt, that stopper knot is a good one and the pinto becket is around 19mm, so I'd say the climb line would need to be no less than 11mm but that's still pushing it in my eyes. I'd stick to a carabiner to terminate

I would be concerned that if that HH stopper knot is unloaded and your moving around, it could roll out or get pulled open. Maybe an Ashly stopper knot or something more secure would be a better choice in that configuration.

I would also throw in a suggestion here, think of the rigging plates for rope bridges, the holes that rope passes through is just big enough for the line itself, and the knot had no way to pass through, it seems in this configuration, on a super tight knot, or after a severe load, the knot MIGHT pull through, or at least get wedged into the sheave area of the pulley.

I would say somehow implement a rigging ring or small rigging plate to act like a "washer" so there is no way for it to pass through after loading.

only after that would i "want to" climb on the setup.

I tried tying it around the becket first but it gets pretty tight. The stopper knot didn't bind up at all.

After looking up the Ashley knot that would be a much better alternative.

I tried this setup because the carabiner and knot setup interfered with the hitch hiker. Maybe you could use a small looper to move the carabiner away from the hitch.

I don't like the idea of metal on metal as in a washer configuration. But maybe if you pass the rope through the becket and tied a small ring in, that could work. It would still be rope on metal, but the ring would not pass through in case the knot slipped.

Maybe you could girth a semi-short Dyneema sling into the becket and run the carabiner off that. It may keep things real clean around the unit with the carabiner connection at whatever height works best for you, based on sling length. Dunno...just a thought.
