Historic Rec. Climb in MA With a Mission

I am putting together a rec climb with a mission. We will be climbing at one of the most historic places in the USA. We WILL have permission. We will be expected to at minimum deadwood the trees we climb, prune them if we so desire. We will NOT have to do any clean-up. I have room for 5-6 climbers, all are welcome. First come first served.

I will PM with you with meeting spot and we will drive to the site together.

Lets set a date! Weekends, either day, are best for me, maybe something toward the end of May?

That sounds like a ton of fun !! Any chance of sleeping in those trees ? May is way overbooked for me, but June might work if you can hold out a bit...

One of the oldest places in the USA, thats all I can say.

I can say there are some huge old trees we will climb on this property as well!

Rich,

No chance of sleeping out in them. But youre more than welcome to stay at my place!

What skill set do you need? What tools do we need to provide? How long of a day are you talking? Tree types and size? Info lets have some of the juicy details.

Aren't the trees too juiced up with water to climb at that time?

Way too much boot damage in our area until after june 15th. So I expect July 1st for your area.

Wouldn't it be bad to climb them and have bark busted open everywhere?

sorry for adding the gloom on this, but for the trees I felt i had too..... and ruin my chance to be allowed to go...

Any skill set will do, its your average run of the mill rec climb, we will just be dead wooding the trees as we go as a favor for being allowed to climb them.

Xman
I don't think it will be an issue as much as you think. Most of these are 100-200 year old oaks with thick bark. We will have to watch what we are doing is all. We are Arborist's though and climb trees all year long with our jobs, we will know if the tree is too tender.....plenty to choose from.

I've got a wedding to attend the 29th of this month, but otherwise clear and available fridays too. Would love to take part! Not gonna have to drag a 200t around all day do we? Haha

Nothing like that, they just ask that we be respectful of visitors, and what ever trees we climb take the hazard deadwood out with us.

Please dont get this confused with an actual workday!

If Rich H can make it up in June lets shoot for June.

I am free every weekend except June 11-12 & 18-19
