I cant quite ID it but it is a fasciated something or other. guess: is it a Tilia? common name Linden, basswood, lime. I have seen fasciation before (apple tree if I remember correct) its cool.

Almost nailed it. It is a fasciated stump sprout off of a cottonwood. I would have tried to graft it, but it had dried out by the time I got home.

Cotton wood hmmmmm. Thats interesting. you know poison oak gets he same thing. I didnt realize it until you showed that pic. Do you have any idea what causes it ?

Here's a dried arrangement in my living room. It is from a willow at a friend's house. I'll get pictures of the plant to post someday. Most of the stems are this way.

Trunks. Sorry I didn't get closer, but it shouldn't be too tough to ID. The trees were on the large side for this type- 70-75'. Just look at where they're growing. /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif
