Help me understand why one would use cobra cables.

We use dynamic quite a bit. It is great if there is no active failure present and can be used as a “catch” for limbs over high value targets. We take care of a beautiful Quercus rubra that has had multiple large limb failures due to mis management in the past. They were on the fence for removal but now the tree has had appropriate amounts of end weight reductions and we have installed 6 dynamic systems in the tree on limbs with most potential to cause damage if they were to fail. These cables would hold the limbs in the tree rather than them sailing to the structures below if they were to go. The dynamic is great in this situation because they can be adjusted and moved as the limbs grow. None of the limbs have failed and the clients are stoked for the peace of mind.

Appreciate the responses so far. The situations where previous static cables were too low does make some sense.

@ATH I’ll poke around about litigation. I work for one of the big wigs so they have seen just about everything under the sun and are very thorough with language to protect ourselves in those instances.
Hey @Jzack605 any word back about history of litigation and failed cable systems?

I was curious as well seems the tree owner would be liable as they were notified of impending failure and opted to ignore it due to cost.
