Hey Cody, real nice shots.
I would love to know where you are for the bulk of those pics. That is some prime, what looks to me to be first growth timber ? There is not a lot of that wood left in the world and those are some beautiful stands, I presume you guys are selectively cutting, doesn't look like your clearing big blocks ?
Put some safety shades on those eyes man, hard to fall trees blind. Just my opinion, tho. Thats all Ill say about it.
Great work shots bro, welcome to the 'Buzz'.

All of the Redwood pics were taken in Humboldt County CA. The rest were in Southeast Alaska, Prince of Wales Island. Never cut any old growth Redwood, only residual old growth(all units that we worked in had already been logged at least once, and the old timers left the trees that were too tough for them to utilize, but we were helicopter logging). As far as selective logging in Humboldt...usually we clearcut; sometimes overstory removal; never huge "blocks"...took an act of congress just to harvest the small units that we did, as the thp regulations in that area were, by far the most stringent I had ever worked under, and I have been around(Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, and A brief stint in Florida and Alabama). Now, for the safety glasses...I have worn them off and on my whole career(bug eyes, every different type of safety glasses, and the george jetson hats, you know with the ear muffs and screen). Longest stint I ever wore the glasses was for about a year, until one day I almost got killed by a huge widow-maker that I did not see(my knees still knock when I have something in front of my eyes when I am falling a tree), because my glasses were dirty(even tried cleaning them every few minutes, but to no avail, as that does not work too well when you are busheling). The bug eyes...did not like how much they obstructed my vision. The best luck I ever had was with the george jetson hats, as I could flip the screen up when clarity of vision was crucial(mostly when falling a tree), and kept it down when brushing, and limbing. I would wear the george jetson hat when the company was really trying to push eye protection, but eventually would end up back in the pickup after multiple hangups in the brush, among other mis-haps. I am posting a cool picture, and there is a very funny story behind it, about safety glasses, but I will post another thread as I have already ranted for too long with this one.
