Oops. I'm posting as my husband. I'll have to type in a really deep voice. Sorry for the confusion. I'm SO glad I didn't say anything real girly...He'd whoop my arse!

Man, I just took pictures for this one last weekend! I was just gonna post it!
What do y'all call that one down there, for a common name?
I was going to call the thread "Quercus WHAT?"

Silky Oak great for furniture. Many people have allergy to it though and they are messy, drop a lot of leaves so we cut a lot down near pools and roof collecting rainwater.
Yep, Silk Oak here. If I get exposed to the heartwood I'm a goner. I'm slowly by surely sensitizing myself right out of a job!
They are messy normally but blow apart in storms. It makes the ones that remain standing look very bizarre once they've grown back in.
(does that make sense? it's early and I'm not sure my brain's on yet
Yup, we call them Silk Oak over here too. Nice looking wood but I've been told you had better be wearing a respirator if you're going to work with it. They're considered an invasive species in some areas here.
We (and I use that term loosely) are taking one down in the morning. Which means I have the day off!! Some people suffer respiratory irritation, others skin irritation, I'd explode I think.
