harnesses

Do not know if you bought your saddle already but I now sing the TM praises. I resisted the TM because I thought it had too much plastic looking grap on it. But it looked like it is shaped like it could fit me. Then the last take down I did, I was so fatigued due to my saddle. I finally broke down and got one, DAM!!!! The TM is@##$%%^*^&& Great, It is good to climb around in but Dam, it is when I spent a couple of days of on spurs, taking down some good sized trees that I really fell in love....and I feel fine! YEHAY Found a saddle that fits a female frame, or at least mine.

congrats on the sa-weeet ride :) Glad you found something that really made a difference for you on the job!
I have also gotten ahold of a TM. Right now I alternate between it and a Butterfly2 that I also think is pretty cool. The TM is highly adjustable... & it's hard to resist its Storm Trooper sexiness. Plus I like the green rings. Both of these harnesses are nice to have...they are loaners that may never be given back!! yeah, and send in some pix!!!! Do it!

And Frax, whatever works for you... but why would you not want a high performance saddle for work? Did I remember that right, w/o the text in front of me? I don't do this tree work gig for a living, but I think I'd be willing to make a good investment when it comes to what I was hanging around in all day long.... just sayin.

Hey Laurie

I'm just used to my saddle I guess. It's comfortable enough, maybe a bit loose and heavy but I don't think about it. I'd probably get gear lust if I tried a few different ones! If I could. I want a second one for travel and fun. Nothing expensive.
I have a lot of toys, I mean proper work gear, that I desire before shelling out for top of the line saddle.

Ya, I saw the butterfly at one of the comps I have been to lately. Not sure if it was a 2 or not. It looked real nice. Wish there was more time to hang around at the commps and try out peoples saddles. I did try on one guys saddle, but did not want to mess with it too much because he was up for the work climb.
I do not have much in the was of worth while work pics. None, that people will not give me shi''' about, or are pics of me up in trees the size of sticks. I should have something soon. The guy that helped me with an alder removal a short while back said he has some descent photo for that job. It was raining and he took them on his phone so I am not holding my breath. I have some from of the comps but I will put them post them in " no woman climbers"

Word about my saddle yet again, I do not know why I waited sooooo long to find a saddle that fits well. It has made a world of difference in my work day. I replaced other gear and bought other stuff first thinking that I have a saddle to climb on, I can wait, I can deal with it. Dam... NO Way!!!! Good well fitting saddle First!!!! Worth the time and money

This sounds exactly like me, talking about my $100 part-leather buckingham saddles, before i tried the velocity and the sequoia. Now I alternate between those, primarily the latter; like losing 5 0r 10 pounds, and that movement, aaahhhhh...fits well around my gluteus minimus too.

Cool, MLR. Please DO post pix, especially any from comps. What comps have you done? Have you just gotten into the TCC thing? I plan to do my first in KY in Oct...

and the harness... yeah, gotta be able to move! Good deal :)

Yeah, I like the sequoia for it's lightness and comfort whether used for pruning or removal jobs. Only issue is the web bridge. It doesn't seem to last at all. I'm going to talk to Petzl about this.

i have a sequoia which i like for its light weight and comfort on rec climbs but i work in a cougar; it offers a lot of support even with heavy gear hanging off it

So, I work for Davey and got a new harness from them a wee while ago. Its the Glide II. Let me say its fabulous!!! Its nice that I can finally get a harness to fit tight enough that my chainsaw wont pull it down over my butt. I think they sell for around >350$ and made in America. Its nice and light and can be broken down into replaceable parts. I foudn it awesome for spur work as well as big canopy pruning.
I lucked out with it from work and I almost bought the Ergo but, really didnt want to part with that much money.

Hope this helps anyone on the fence or wanting insight.

Happy Climbing!
