(Disclaimer: (trigger warning?) This thread title a crass and blatant attempt to catch the attention of JeffGu).
I am not as agile or sprightly as some of you gerbils. And I rarely have need or want of a pole saw doing removals on spurs. I do however really like having a lightweight pole with a hook to snag hangers, retrieve or extend climbing / rigging lines, etc. Especially useful for mid or tip tying rigging lines with steel biners.
I cobbled up this very lightweight pole a couple of weeks ago. The yellow fiberglass section cost me $1.00Canadian ($.65USA) at a Thrift Store. Slathered some epoxy glue in it and jammed it into the orange (Marvin?) Bottom section. Tight fit. The tip thingy is likewise screwed and epoxied into a dowel epoxied into the end of the yellow thing.
(If none of this makes sense to anybody, it is ok...I've been married a long time).
After several weeks of intermittent use and abuse,(of said hooker) I think I've got a winner here.
Ya, it will occasionally snag on something when you are climbing. Ya, it is another thing hanging in your saddle. But it works. And weighs next to nothing. And is positively robust compared to that car antenna piece of junk.
