I am now convinced that this country has gone down a path of irreparable harm. There are militia members creating adhoc check points over bogus rumors that the fires in my home state were started by ANTIFA. They seriously believe that this is a very organized attack on US soil.
It’s all burning down, fire of this scale is not unheard of on the wet side of the cascades. Yes it’s a fucken historic event, with many causes and celestial alignments such as over a decade of miss-management and poor fire suppression. Add a dash of climate change, and a once in a 100 year weather event and poof it all goes up in smoke.
I can’t believe the trumpies are trying to make this political with such fucked up bogus tripe.

These assholes who still think Coronavirus is a hoax or isn’t as deadly as it is or that your freedoms are being attacked. If you don’t want to do the right thing for not just yourself but everyone else, YOU stay the fuck home.

In a civilized society, you do not have complete freedom to do anything you want. Your freedoms stop when they impact others in a harmful or negative way. That is the difference between civilization and anarchy. This idea that we don't have to wear a mask or keep distance, if we don't want to, makes as little sense as a restaurant cook thinking they have the freedom to decide if they don't want to wash their hands after taking a crap or someone pumping gas at a gas pump next to you thinking they don't have to quit smoking at the same time. I am beginning to think it is really stretching the truth to call the US a civilized country. We seem like a very selfish and shallow culture, an immature nation that has a lot of growing up still to do. The very kind of society that would end up with an egotistical reality-TV personality as leader. And the term 'leader' here also seems stretching the truth.
 
Around here, in the cornfields, we have our own macho militia of Swedish pig farmers who shop at Cabela's and MidwayUSA and wear camouflage hoodies and Rock Hudson designer jeans with the button down flap in the back. I've asked them what's up with the camo when they're standing on a street corner surrounded by concrete and cars, but they don't want to talk about it. There were six of them, initially, but they're down to three, now. One got busted for possession of meth, and two sort of went into seclusion after being ticketed for being a public nuisance or something. The remaining three have been making random appearances in the small towns in the area, usually standing in a parking lot, and saluting old ladies when they waddle by. We call them the Farm Boy Fatties or sometimes the Swedish Meatballs.

They couldn't make the BIG RALLY, but managed to hang out at the local Stop 'N Rob waving little flags and yelling profanities at the little old ladies who waddle past them. They were wearing their DON the CON hats and irrigation boots covered in pig shit.

The Covid-19 must be cramping their style... they usually spend most of their time up at the dog track in Council Bluffs. Now, they stand around outside the Stop 'N Rob with handfuls of scratch tickets, spiking their Big Gulp with hooch and yammering on about how they're gonna own the libtards after tRumple Foreskin wins in November. I'll report back after the election.

It seems hopeless trying to get some of these people to even look at the facts, at his own idiotic words out of his own mouth. It is like a cult. A cult of ignorance, racial intolerance, and radical nationalism. There is no opening their eyes. They love the guy because they are basically just like him. Fortunately, it is the swing voters who will decide the day and I have to think at this point that an awful lot of them are sorry they voted for him. Aside from the real danger he poses to our global status and respectability, and to our democratic institutions, he has simply not lived up to most of his promises. And his time in office is characterized by pure chaos, with a constant turnover of advisors, numerous cohorts ending up indicted for one thing or another, a veritable avalanche of exaggerations and outright lies in his speeches and tweets, and consistent bungling of any real issues that cropped up which demanded leadership.
