Big mistake on both counts. Pelosi seems to be a huge fan of dumping 1100 page bills on lawmakers at the 11th hour and demanding a vote in the 12th. Chock full of absolutely putrid pork.

But declaring a national emergency is worse. I try to be intellectually consistent. I believe in a reasonably limited government (especially at the federal level), and so I can't support Trump using executive power in this way. If he did, it isn't a stretch at all to imagine President Occasio-Cortez declaring a national emergency for climate change and putting the military to work to "solve" it with my money. This is Banana Republic territory. Pelosi's already talking about the next Democrat President declaring a national emergency on gun control. God help us. "National emergency" should never become code for "acceptable method for ramming difficult political issues down the throats of our opponents".

For the record, I feel the same way about Supreme Court decisions. Cherry picking plaintiffs to get a favorable ruling from the court has become a convenient end-run around convincing your fellow citizens of the superiority of your position. It's the court issuing a decree from on high, from which there is no recourse. Tyranny in black robes. Seems every decision lately is just an Ivy League "national emergency".

Ironically for you Trump haters Justice Kavanaugh will likely be your savior. No way he or the other conservatives allow Trump to do this. If they do, I quit.

It cracks me up how wound up folks get about politics! Face it ALL politicians are rich and get a lot richer from being in office. They all get rich, team A or team B by changing laws to benefit the super wealthy. Somehow they keep the populace busy pointing fingers at the other team when they are all in it together.

Wise up people our system is fucked and the rich love it! Until we can get money out of politics the average Joe is done for. We should do like Iceland did and draw up a new constitution on a wiki forum and boot all the blood sucking ass clowns.

If I was a US citizen I would run for president .. My first moves would be make an infrastructure around major metropolitan areas for Ebike commuting and have incentives for people to use them, maybe free organic food for so many miles riden. In one fell swoop you would reduce pollution and dependence on foreign oil, increase the populations health and disposition which would unburden our health care system. We are facing a HUGE health crisis in this country with all these idiots that eat nothing but sugar and never exercise at all!

My other move would be to legalize all drugs and make them free , supplied by the government . Sure a lot of idiots would OD to start but they would anyway in the long run. We would save all the money spent on enforcement and free up the jails and junkies wouldn't have to steal. The war on drugs doesn't seem to be working....

2 corrections out of 8 thousand...alternative facts statements does absolve the other 7,998. While I agree that the opposition to Trump is willing to highlight any mistake he or his followers makes (and they are many and varied), at the end of the day I cannot help but believe that he is incapable of putting the country before his own self-interest. As a result, I think that Mr. Trump and everyone he brought with him to Washington needs to go.

The kids were being Racist, that is a fact regardless of everything else going on at that event.

Look at Trumps own governmental stats on immigration at the southern border. 40 yr lows. Facts and numbers simply don’t support the idea of a crisis at the southern border. You have been sold a bad bill of goods, but that’s what con men, frauds, and grifters do.
