Yeah, but most of the infection sites aren't coming from the "invaders"... they're coming from citizens of the country traveling to hotzones and coming back. So, unless you can convince people not to rush home to be "safe" and ride it out wherever they are... well, nothing is going to stop it. Not just here, but everywhere. Once the virus gets in, closed borders aren't going to stop anything. It may very well slow the thing down, which helps a lot, but it's not a solution for keeping things out.
In the end, it's going to be preparedness for pandemics that's going to limit the death toll, so building crisis-ready hospital facilities close to borders, mobile testing/treatment solutions, and funding for such infrastructure that will make the most difference.
I realize that a large chunk of the population doesn't want to spend the money, but I know where it can come from. You and I will never agree on that part.
