First Traverse

That foot slingshot looks fun. Might be painful if you had a miss fire though. A small (store bought) hand-held slingshot and some small weights might accomplish the same thing. Classic video Moss, I remember watching this several times when I was learning to climb.
You will also find, I have a bunch of them, that the small slingshots you're talking about are just too weak and shooting a small weight won't get you the results that you want.

There's little misfire risk unless say you were "driving drunk" and hit a close limb and caused the bag to come straight back. The way to do it for any high powered big shot etc. is to stand on or snag the throwline, the bag can come straight back at you at high speed. Happened to me once with my big slingshot, the bag came right at my face, tilted my head slightly and it missed. It's a real concept, wear eye protection when firing big slingshots ;-)

I've never hit the arms of the footshot or my foot, it's very difficult to do so, not sure how you would, maybe install it on your foot wrong.

Yes, I'd like to go into production with the Footshot, thx for the comments Richard.

Ya tried that as well, even the wrist rocket style was too weak, it would need stronger tubing and a wider spread for the arms. Still fun for a little target practice in the tree though -

Footshot works but I really like Ankle rocket as well. If you are going to produce these, bolt that cross bar on one side though so I don't drop it, and put me on the short list to buy one!

Or a short retaining lanyard made with a piece of throwline, thx for the reminder. Also the foot straps will have metal not plastic buckles. Some minor details to fix to make it ready for prime-time.

It's a great idea, and looks like fun to use. I've been thinking about it and l do have a couple of engineering improvement ideas if you are interested, I'm not looking to get in on anything I just want to buy the finished product. Let me know and I can throw together a crappy diagram and message it to you or something.

Anyone using a BigShot, slingshot or otherwise needs to watch the Amazing Race episode.
I sat here totally engrossed in this thread as I do in many since I started learning to climb! Lots of Great Ideas. But this video!!! OMG that gal is seriously lucky not to be dead! I can not imagine how that must have hurt!
