Hey folks.

It appears that the Lyons family has opted to have a private ceremony.

I am in talks with a few local arborists to possibly have something for us to be able to get together and show our respects. I will keep everyone updated with what's going on. I

It would be really cool to meet some of you South Jersey folks I'm seeing post up here too.

how about the philly guys too ! set up a beef and beer and let's get together . Didn't know him personally but he was a friend of my brothers and a lot of people I know . Get a hold of Marlinspiker Marc ( he's got my number , i'm serious ) , and lets make this happen .

My friends are pretty high up at Victory Brewing in Downingtown. They have done charity events in the past and would probably be willing to donate something to the cause if the event were held there. I know its not all that conveniently located, maybe something in philly would work.

Also my other buddy owns a nursery and said he would donate a decent size tree to raffle off to raise funds as well. We would deliver and install as well.

Didn't know Cameron personally but I have spoke to him on the phone and through text messages. I was suppose to go down and work for him for a day but couldn't seem to find the time. I really am regretting that now. It seems Cameron was a wonderful person, tree man, father, and husband. I will be praying for the Lyons family. A beef and beer would be a great idea to try and raise some money.

I'm in for beef and beer. I have a friend who owns a bar in Paulsboro NJ who will donate the banquet room. Easy access to highways it's right on highway 295.

I went to a great benefit for a young lady suffering from cancer at Adelphia's near the Deptford Mall. It was well run,fun and we raised just over $20,000.00. It's a nice central location to host a benefit. I will donate ANY time necessary to memorialize Cameron. It could be to help his family or to benefit other injured or fallen brothers wherever they are. Cam was good to me when I was at Bartlett. My office was just around the corner from his yard.
He showed up, had everything he needed and didn't waste time.

I was climbing an oak tree when I got the call from Matt, Camerons foreman. I started working for Cam when I was very green. He took me on as his lead climber. Cameron spent hours, weeks, months, training me. Making sure I did things right. His devotion to running a top notch company changed not only my climbing skills but also bettered my work to this day. Because I was able to spend about 4 years working side by side with Cam and Roachy, they transformed me from being a hack to an arborist. Cameron was a generous man. He paid for me to take Steve Chisholm' s classes to prepare for the NJ Tree Expert exam. Cameron absolutely loved what he did. After I left the company he started climbing again and did so up until his accident. Although Cam and I lost touch I will forever thank him for teaching he how to climb and making me the arborist that I am today. RIP Cameron. You will be missed by so many.

Btw guys I know cameron loved red bud trees..I like the idea of planting a tree for a memorial. Haddonfield would most likely dedacate a spot for it. I can go talk with the supervisor and ask for permission. If anyone would like to call and help set tbis up call Steve @ 856 298 8873

I rethought to whole beef and beer thing. It's still a good idea however Cameron didn't drink neither do I. The last thing I would want to do is have people drive far and give them beer. Maybe a family orientated event with activities and games for the kids would be more my speed. The responsible drinkers can BYOB

F2N I reached out to the supervisor of Haddonfields public works. He said it shoukdnt be a problem at all to dedicate an area of the park for Cameron, where a tree and plaque will go. He just needs to run it by the Shade Tree Commission. Let me know what everyone thinks. The park would be a great place for families to have a good time. We can also schedule other events for that day. If everyone likes the idea we just need to fundraise some money.

That's great. I can't imagine the shade tree commission turning down a tree they don't have to pay for. As far as raising funds for that shouldn't be a big task. The cost of the tree and a plaque shouldn't break anybody's bank. I'll dig the hole. Thank you for the leg work. Once we go through the appropriate political tape it the next thing to do is contact people about the event. There are a few guys Cam new in this industry who aren't computer people and there is a few who don't about this forum. I didn't know it existed until the day off the accident. My wife found it for me.

If there's anything I can do to help in any way let me know seems there's a great group of caring men and women here who seem to have the ball rolling good now . I may skip the beef and beer but I am happy to help with a donation and any kinda behind the scenes things .

I spoke with Marc, Dave and Matt today about the memorial. Marc recommended we plant a white oak due to the fact a white oak has less chance of disease and will withstand children pulling on the tree since it will be located in Haddonfield's park. We talked briefly about what we thought the cost of the memorial will be. The tree is covered so all we need to buy is the engraved stone. I will post more information on the fundraiser to buy and engrave a marble stone.

That's a good species. I'm getting a hold of a memorial company first chance tomorrow. Any ideas as what we should put on it? Besides his name. Did he have any quotes he used to use? Or a quote that would best fit his personality. Whoever has direct access to Chrisy get her input. Or we can come up with a few different options from fellow buzzers and have Chrisy choose the best one. Anybody that would like to talk to me personally on this manner my cell# is 856-562-7920. If I don't ansewer right away shoot me a text. All be safe tomorrow. The weather isn't supposed that good tomorrow.
