Fellow buzzer has passed

RIP Cameron. Your tree family is mourning. I interviewed with him for a job a year and a half ago. Great guy and super kind with a beautiful family. Absolutely heartbreaking.

this is really terrible. extra sad it was on Halloween, now his children will never see Halloween the same again.

I felt off today myself due to a cold. Our tree today had limbs over power lines. I told my guys that I didn't feel good and keep an eye on me and yell at me if you see me doing anything stupid. For some reason, my really short climbing line had the knot in the tail taken out (I didn't do it, I never take it out) and Matt brought it to my attention when I was descending and only have about 20 feet left. I might have seen it, I might have not.

I took it slow. I also thought about how terrible it would be if I died on Halloween for my kids, so for them, I took measures to double check things and take extra cautions.

Really really sucks to hear that a Dad lost his life today.

I remember his name was on tree buzz for years. I think he had a crane in the avatar usually. He was a very up to date with crane safety type of guy, right?

When appropriate, I hope we hear about what things lead to this.

Will say a prayer for him and his family tonight.

Aloha nui loa Aloha kakou brother. you will be missed.
just found out 15 minuts ago via jesse huffman, and im still in shock that one day he was here and the next hes gone. :/ used to ask him for climbing gear advice on facebook. :( PLEASE for the love of god be safe out thee guys, even if it means costing extra time. your life is more important then anything else!.

Cameron finished setting his first pick. He then descended down to where he was making the cut and he never put on his lanyard so when he then pulled his climbing line from the crane he went to lean back but he never had his lanyard on and he just fell...

It's so fu@ked up.

His foreman did everything possible until the ambulance arrived. He was unbelieveable. I'm proud to call him my friend with how he handled himself and the situation. He rode with Cam to the hospital where he was pronounced. The foreman then got a ride back to the job site, dealt with OSHA, climbed back up to the pick and unhooked the sling, packed the crane back up and drove it back to the shop. Regardless of the sad outcome that boy was a damn super hero and I honestly can't say that I would have handled it anywhere near how he did.

Once we found out we cancelled work for the day to let the crew collect their thoughts. That's how Cameron was. We worked with him maybe once a week but he had made that kind of bond with the crew. I drove over to the site. I don't know why. As I pulled up the foreman was getting dropped off to pick up yet another truck. I hugged the $hit out of him. We talked for a bit, I didn't pry. I won't. He told me the little that you all now know.

ah, man, I didn't really converse with Cameron on the buzz and I don't use facebook, but looked up his past posts. Man, he was a pro with cranes. he had that awesome new huge Terex and two other cranes. So hard when great people are taken from this earth. It's too hard to understand for us..... A loser, crack addict climber will work 40 years doing dangerous practices every day and never get killed at work. Then a real pro like Cameron that does things safe and keeps up with new safe practices loses his life. This is awful.

I didn't know what to write but all I could think of was to remind people to double check tie ins. Wouldn't you know it. He came across as a solid guy. He'll be missed.

Marc,
thank you for the explanation and I'm so sorry this has happened and for the loss. We do this tree work stuff every day and it just takes one moment where we make a mistake.... So sorry it happened to him.

So sad and shocked to get this news. I spoke to Cameron a few times about his crane and working with his crew during sandy. He always came across as a genuine person and professional. I'm sure many will be reeling with this for some time and reminds us all just how fragile life is. My thoughts are with his family,

This makes me really sad. I went and worked with Cameron and his crew after Sandy last year for 10 days. I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed working with him and his crew. Working with that equipment blew my mind. He was generous with me and the crew and treated me really well for that short visit.

This summer he tried to get me to come visit but I turned him down. Now I wish I had gone and spent more time with him. Just last week I texted Cameron to see how things were going and if he needed any help. I never heard back so I texted Matt (his foreman) and he told me that they had steady work but weren't buried. He said Cameron was doing all of the climbing.

Thoughts with his family and with our family at large here at the Buzz. Stay safe everybody.

RIP Cameron. Thoughts and prayers to friends and family. I've always awed at his crane work on the buzz. I remember Ryan Cafferky sitting on my couch telling me what an amazing operation he had and what a great company they were. Stay safe everyone!!!!!!!!!!
