Using rocks isn't any more bizarre than arming teachers.

Don't you think that the world is bizarre? Having a day to draw attention to guns/shooting in schools is bizarre

In '69 the senior high students protested the dress codes restrictions against guys wearing blue jeans and gala wearing slacks. 130 students were suspended for wearing blue jeans. Given where we are...looking back on blue jean day is bizarre. But...the dress code was changed. Did this lead to end of the world as we know it?

Respectfully Tom, I think it's vastly, galactically more bizarre. Besides, the school is arming teachers - but with a hopelessly, absurdly ineffective "weapon", instead of one that might actually deter shooters and/or save lives.

Police carry guns, not rocks, for a reason. If my kids were faced with a shooter, I damn sure want someone in that school to have a gun to defend them. Not a bucket of rocks.

Does anyone here defend their home or family with rocks? If not, why not? Please discuss.

The fact that there are so many school shootings is so bizarre. Guns and rocks...fire extinguishers have also been suggested...is closing the gate after the herd is gone

There's a need to look at why these bizarre 'solutions' are even being considered.

What's causing the need for the solutions. Solve the issue before it's a problem. Rocks and guns are not the best or only solution

I agree completely. It's troubling and confusing to normal people. Why schools? Why so often?

I also wish we could identify the problem so these "solutions" would be unnecessary. Just a daunting issue.

Thank gawd these kids have the Sense to know that the answer to our gun violence epidemic is not more guns, but in fact less guns. These kids seem to be the only adults in the fucking room.

78% of adults in America Don't own guns
3% own 50% of the guns in America
The very definition of being ruled by the minority. Fuck that. Change is coming so you better grab your guns and hide cause these kids are done with this bullshit!

The 2nd Amendment is still my Right, & until there is a Constitutional Change your Opinion is irrelevant.

You continue practicing your 1st Amendment Rights & I’ll continue to practice my 2nd Amendment Rights.



I must admit,
I find it Ironic this is the most popular discussion on a Tree Forum: I joined to grow my Tree Care Business.

I never knew I would be defending Constitutional Rights.

It further troubles me that so called members promote anti-Constitutional ideals, but no longer offer substance related to the Original Subject matter of this forum.

You make a good point Tom.

Why were there so many indications for years prior to the Parkland Shooting, & nothing was done?

Why aren’t the local Authorities, (the ones that you & others believe I should turn legally owned firearms over to), being held accountable for the 37 times they were called out to this individual, & did nothing?

Or the Youtube Comments That were reported to the FBI, & nothing was done?

Why were the 1st Officers on the scene ordered to stand down by their CO?

It all seems Politics are the reason, especially considering the ties to the Media & the FBI within this specific situation.

I still fail to see how some people want to remove the blame from the persons who are responsible for upholding laws already in place, & place the blame on an object that must be controlled by a human.

Do you honestly believe the Governments, (Local & Federal), that failed to do their respective jobs can be relied on for your personal security?

I Do Not.

"The demographics of gun ownership in the United States" by the Pew Research Center has a lot of info on the subject of who owns what.
One little factoid that caught my eye is that approximately 50% of the folks who don't currently own a firearm could foresee buying one in the future.

Ask yourself if you think these things are preventable.
That particular genie got outta the bottle a long time ago. Trying to stick him back in is admirable, but akin to teaching a goldfish how to play the violin.
