#enough

I switched my tooth paste, breath cem trails daily, and don't give a shit about the satellites.

BTW It's chlorimane in the municipality H2O. It doesn't evaporate as quickly.

Fascinating very short article about the cause of these school shootings. You'll barely need to scroll down to read it all. Totally non-political, non-partisan. A restatement of a conclusion reached by Malcolm Gladwell, if you're familiar with him. No solutions, but I think a good explanation for why they keep happening.

I think the incident in Santa Fe would indicate otherwise. The need for that 15 seconds of fame seems to be a lot stronger, even, than the normalization of sociopathic behavior. The two together would appear to be a substantial motivator for some people to cross that line from nuttier than squirrel shit to the full blown, batshit crazy side.

Once you remove the instantaneous leap of behavior to non-localized populations nonsense in the 100th Monkey notion, it makes a lot more sense. Groups of like-minded individuals almost certainly adopt behaviors that they deem normal, expected, or inevitable from their philosophical standpoint once the word gets out that such things elicit a response they have come to think of as desirable. This holds true for philanthropic, humanitarian behavior and for sociopathic, destructive behavior alike. In the Communication Age, this happens a lot faster and even the most remote pockets of absurdity and lunacy are plugged into the Instant Gratification Machine that is the internet.

Unfortunately, I can't imagine any of that changing. An equal force in the opposite direction is what is needed, and there is always a glimmer of hope for that to happen. Peer pressure is a powerful force... it even inhibits the behavior of all but the most extreme whacko sociopaths.

27 indictments on his team of criminals, Oliver North the new CEO of the NRA.

Why are idiots confused about the mental health of Americans who choose to mass kill?

I agree with this article for the most part. I'm a bit of a fence sitter on gun control truth be told and don't have any great ideas regarding it either way.

Need to read his works cited but it does make sense. The bit about thresholds and levels of psychosis is interesting and frankly a bit terrifying if it's accurate.

Communication Age,
Great point, Columbine was at the early stages and now folks are inundated with countless sources of media and examples of behavior from the saintly to the black hearted maniac with no concept of humanity. The negativity seems to be snowballing.

Agree. This is one reason I don't do social media. No FB, no Insta, no Twitter. My kids don't yet either. They can get their butts outside. Or they can read a manual iPad (book). I'm sure they'll fight me on this eventually, but it's a fight worth having.

I say the less internet the better. Except Treebuzz obviously.

God knows you can criticize Trump for a LOT of things...... but you deem him stupid at your own peril.

Like it or not (I suspect not) he's the multi-billionaire President of the United States. Damn I wish I was that dumb.

Simple minds, criminal acts. I truly hope you don't actually promote your greed and incompetence onward to your children.

Guys, we all have our own opinions on what we see as right. Many of us have been raised and trained professionally to use firearms. I had my years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces, many of you have served. I have also used firearms for hunting and target sports.
One thing that differentiates the United States from many other countries is the mentality surrounding them. An example would be... in the US they are referred to mostly as weapons used for self defence. In Canada, it isn’t legal to use them as a civilian for that purpose and therefore most of us don’t associate them as weapons. Here the primary focus is on attitude surrounding firearms. We are not immune to criminals and acts of gun violence but it is far less common. We cannot legally possess hi cap magazines and as such they are near impossible to find. That reduces the amount of damage a deranged person can dish out.
There are ways to make them a bit safer but the best way is change the attitude surrounding firearms. But you can’t fix stupid!
