That's awesome. Thanks for the picture Rico

When I walked the path towards and came upon the Tane Mahuta, the Lord Of The Forest on North Island, NZ, my knees gave way and I cried unexplainbly. There isn't an explanation for those, it's just the communion that we have, many of us, to that of what we really are.
One of the beautiful things in life if we know what to look for and how we respond when it happens.
Thanks for the picture.
If everyone could conjure that connection even just once a day, for at least as long as posting a thought, it could change many things.
That level of being able to understand who we are and part of, we'd not be posting about dead kids for much longer.

A chasm between thoughtful and thoughtless widens. Perhaps this delineation will reduce the impact humans have by reducing the numbers, allow evolution and adaptation to occur, and start a path towards stewardship vs evil.

It's more than apparent who the parasites are and who true human beings are..as awful as that sounds, as PC incorrect as it may be.

Today we expand the #numbers. Kentucky just closed all public schools because the teachers just walked off. Same story, same protests, same enemy.
In suburban neighborhood's, it's still Disneyland..everything's peachy. They think. I differ, so do tens of thousands of realists.
#'s...more combining the facts, the dead black teen's parents met the striking teachers who know the #metoo's and who to put in the cross hairs of achievements.
I'm proud of America today. There's much more to do.

For years I've flinched when 'my generation/MG' scoffs at what 'kids/K' say since, I guess only because K younger than MG.

Doesn't anyone from MG remember their youth? Didn't we all know everything? Ask your folks!

YOuthful exuberance should be encouraged.

One theme of the attacks on the Parkland students is that they're puppets and pawns of...??? Questions are asked about their knowledge and skills. Do I believer that the latest marches and protests were all planned by high school students? Heck no. So what if they had help from organizations with skills and knowledge in putting together large events. If the critics yammer on with dismissive voices about K then curtail the K on 'your' side. HOw can high school 'kids' know what the Constitution means? After all, they're so young...Pffft!

I enjoyed reading this article.

We can debate all we want about if the kids should or shouldn't protest but the reality is; they are, no matter what who says where. Same with the teachers, the victims of molestation, the unarmed civilians being shot multiple times, foreign trade brokers, science/climate activists, and children brought here illegally by their parents but had no choices. Pro-choice, regulatory laws, student loans, and nuclear war. Just to name a few.
Protest made America. Just might have to accept it.

@oakwilt, why is it that you have to attack other people that disagree with you. It's been a slurry of name calling, belittling, and crap from you. This is a big part of problems in society today. If someone doesn't agree with you they are idiots, or racist, or anti- whatever, or need to just leave the country. Why can't people like you just have a damn debate without resorting to that stuff? I'm guessing you won't answer me because I've read every post in this thread and see that is your common theme. At least @rico was man enough to apologize for his comment about working timber size to @hsell. The personal attacks and name calling are a sign of fear. When you have nothing else you fall to that level of "conversation".

Now as for saying, this is over, the kid's have won, just accept it or leave, I disagree. All you are doing there is trying to intimidate and push other people around. We are a democracy for a reason, this is not a dictatorship and you and a group of protestors don't get to just force people to accept things.

You mentioned "whitey cops" at one point. Is it fair for me to say you're anti-white and ant-police? So as a liberal? ( An assumption based on your anti-right statements) are you admitting to being racist? Our society has now associated race with skin color. And I see whitey used as a derogatory term based on skin color alone. Lord knows if one was to refer to someone as "some blackie protestor" they would be banished from the site for racist comments.

All that aside, I'm just trying to say you can't have it both ways. Just because you want it your way you can't just force people to accept it.

Now as someone who has been shot at, I will agree that it's scary as hell to say the least. I agree that we need laws governing firearms and the people that can own/ possess them but also understand that laws don't stop people from violating them.

What we need to correct is why the kid's are shooting up their own schools. We have brewed a society of children that are never allowed to fail. They always have "friends" and don't get to be upset by other people. This dooms them when real life hits. My children are still in elementary school. All of their classmates are refered to as"friends". The teachers call them as friends rather than students. The "anti-bullying" trend is out of control. Kids get picked on by each other, it's what they do. It helps build thick skin and teach them about real life. But it isn't allowed anymore and gets punished heavily. But then they hit the real world and people start talking to them the way you're talking to hsell and they don't know how to handle it.

We are growing a population of entitled "get it your way or throw a fit" kids . And God forbid anyone have a different opinion. There have been students punished for have pro 2a protests at school. Why? What about free speech being equal? These are some problems with what we're doing with our kids.
My boy's all know how to loose, how to be wrong, how to handle not getting their way, and how to be punished for doing wrong. How many kids can say the same.

Even you Wilt, are not handling someone having a differing opinion from you, and you're an adult. I think.

Bottom line is, we need to fix our people so that we can fix our laws.

So because I'm a bow hunter and I question how you handle a discussion I must be a Ted Nugent wanna be?

Actually I don't care much for the man for my personal reasons, but good for him for doing so well for himself in life.

But what a shining example of an expected reply from you none the less.

"a group of protesters" in your vernacular pinpoints your conservative and fear-based agenda. They are what made America.

Bullies are good for your kids?

Change is occurring. It happens. I'm here now with over 20,000 teachers forcing change. From here it's on to Iowa, Kansas, then Arizona. Red state being the common denominator. Less taxes, less regulation, more pollution and less rights.

I have no qualms with peaceful protesters as long as they don't intrude onto the rights of others during their protests.

I have my views the same as you have yours. The difference is I'm willing to accept that they differ from each other on some topics. And I'm willing to talk about them without name calling and consider others views.

I do however refuse to listen to people who kick and scream and throw fits when someone disagrees with them.

Bullies exist in life and always will. Even in adult life people call you names, are rude, try to start arguments, and pass judgment without knowledge. Sound familiar? Read some of your posts in this thread. So yes, I use those people to be able to teach my children how to deal with them as they grow.

I have no doubts that change is occurring. The constant in life is change. Some for better, some for worse. We as a country need to work together though. It's not divide and conquer.

Could you elaborate on what you mean? There's things I really dislike about our current president. But there's also things I really disliked about the past presidents. I'm not a fan of politicians in general, but I'll never be one so I just try to change things with my votes.

Once again our 200 year old culture of Violence and Guns has come home to roost.
America has officially lost it's fucking mind!

School shootings basically started with Columbine. Really didn't happen before that like they do today.

Guns were just as plentiful and probably easier to get pre-Columbine. So why no shootings back then like today? What changed?

It appears that the guns where owned by the shooters father. Maybe he should see the inside of a prison cell for a few years for his responsibility in this evil act.
Might make some of these so-called "responsible gun owners" lock their shit up.
Just a thought?
