End of rope quick connect.

This is the utility loop I'll put on one end of a rope that has a tight eye, or on both ends for dedicated SRT lines. Took out approx 3" of core, stuffed a loop of webbing in, stitch it down, shrink tube the cover end so it goes through the tight spots. Out lasts the rope.

What did you use on the stitching and difficulty level to get the needle through the loop material?

I used a sewing awl, there are a few out there, I use the "Speedy Stitcher" with an industrial ball point needle so I don't rip fibers. Speedy Stitcher comes with leather cutting needles, very bad for fibers. No problem at all pushing the needle through, super easy. You could do it with a heavy needle you might use for whipping a splice, I don't think it would be difficult to push through, sewing awl just makes it a little easier to push through and make a lock stitch, you can make a lock stitch with a regular needle too.

Thanks. Will look into it.

Pulling out a bit of core, cutting it off, milking it back in and stitching a flat loop with the newly excess cover has always been my favorite. Use the stitching to hold the remaining core in place. If you don't stitch an good seizing will work about as well.

NICE! Will it slide into a mechanical?

I do the ends of my lines the same way @moss does, but sometimes use Dacron 1/8" or 3/16" cord if I don't have any small webbing laying around. Fits through everything I have, including the ZigZags as long as I keep the diameter of the loop/stitching area a little less than the diameter of the rope when I put the shrink tubing on. Very handy, and I think nearly all of my climbing ropes have them, now.
