Where did you find a spare battery? Echo dealers around here say they are on order, but not available yet.

I'm wondering what its actual weight is with the battery and oil. Any chance you have a decent scale you could toss it on?

Or just how it compares to your other climbing saws as a point of reference?
 
How're you guys looking the echo battery saws , I saw they have a rear handle for 300$ with 5ah battery and charger claiming up to 200 cuts on a charge. I would like to get another electric saw for ground use at the chipper or so we can still talk while I'm in the tree and someone is on the ground using a saw to deal with brush.

Weight wise it's really similar to the 2511, just a little blockier in the back where the battery is. Still feels really balanced and light.

as for batteries I was about to pull the trigger on the blower with the 2.5 ah and charger, it was around $180 where a battery was about $140 IIRC. The blower can use the larger 5ah batteries which are available and cheaper.
 
I’ve been liking this little saw! I put the panther 12 inch conversion on it. It’s the difference between a butter knife and a steak knife. So stupid they don’t come stock 1/4”. The batteries are on the treestuff webpage but they’re not in stock yet last I checked.

Any idea if it's the same kit as the 2511 for the bar chain sprocket? I have both, but never think to try swapping them when they're both in the same place.

Also stock echo chains suck. Never heard a chain chatter so much. Touch it with a file and it's so much better

I bought the bar, chain and sprocket from monkey beaver. They told me the 1/4” sprocket is not the same as the 2511 conversion.

I couldn't agree more. I put a 10" Stihl b&c on mine (same as my 2511) and it's night and day different. Cuts like the 2511 if not better and battery is lasting alot longer, especially in larger wood.

It makes me wonder what in the world Echo is thinking. I mean they sell the both saws(2500/2511) already set up with 1/4p in other markets. The 2511 is almost unusable out of the box here, but is fantastic with just the 1/4p. 2500 runs the 3/8 a little better but absolutely shines with the smaller chain. Why dumb down a great product?

How does the stihl bar fit? Does the oiler line up? Did you order an echo 1/4” sprocket? Stihl is so much cheaper than panther I would have gone that route if I knew it worked.

You need to drill the adjuster hole about 3/4-1" forward. Same as a 2511. You can also add drive links to the chain but I've always drilled them so I can buy chains off the shelf

If you get a chance could you post a picture of the 10” stihl modification?
 
If you hold a stihl and echo bar up together you'll see where to drill. I'll try and snap a pic if i remember. I'd recommend a drill press, chainsaw bars are pretty hard and will smoke a drill bit if you're not careful

My msa160t is heavy however not having to start a saw is huge, not just in energy saving day of but saving your hands wrists and elbows from so much unnatural repetitive movement, also it's actually significantly faster to use in many cases.
We have a 193 that runs well, brand new 201tc with a light bar the msa160t, unless it's a big cuts no one takes the gas saws over the battery saw, even the other guys little crappy dewalt gets pulled out for small prune jobs.
 
We bought one of these saws for work and I bought one for myself too. I put the panther 1/4” on mine and think that is the best option. For the saw at work I put a 3/8” pitch stihl mini picco bar & chain which required modifying but I think it is an improvement over the stock echo bar it comes with. Not quite as smooth as 1/4” but pretty nice.

Also noticed arbsession is selling 1/4” “universal mount” bars made by archer.

Where did you get the 1/4" sprocket? Is it the same as the 2511's one? Thanks in advance!

Thanks, couldn't find one for sale anywhere other than UK, but looks like they ship fast. Looking forward to giving another battery tophandle a try. The little makita was ok, but quite limited. If this one is comparable to the 2511, I'll be very happy!
