East coast white pine climbing

Moss, I love that cinch method. I've been using it more and more as a means of managing less line for SRT climbing. Unless I plan to use my 200' hank for extended base anchor climbs, I'll choose my 60', 80', or 100' lines. The only difference is that I'm using an oval link in the eye of the butterfly to capture the the line. This allows me to commit to a cinch even if the tail cannot be loaded into the butterfly from the ground. I other words, if it gets to a point where I'm still pulling throwline when the butterfly is about to leave the ground, I can pop the throwline into the oval link and continue to pull. The tail of the line eventually passes through the oval link and continues towards you. A delta link can be used to allow for a bulkier splice to pass rough reliably.

PS, I'm sure you already know this. You ARE the man!

I've installed a dyneema loop like this on a couple of my 150' ropes, it always drops cleanly through the loop on a Running Bowline when the height of the anchor limb is greater than half the length of my rope. Definitely the AB and oval screw link works well and is versatile.
