Eagle Conservation Project

Steve Connally

Been here much more than a while
I'm so excited. I made a connection with Virginia DCNR today and am now a contract climber for the state biologists on the eagle conservation project. I'll be setting and repairing cameras, collecting eaglets and bringing them from the nest to the ground and back up again. Placing transponders on young birds. It's a super great opportunity. He was asking about my climbing and if i'd be willing to "rope climb" the trees. They spike pines but not hardwoods. I told him i'll climb spikeless on everything. Great thing is the climbers are budgeted expenses on these projects so my pay will be covered. He also said we'd be starting on the northern Potomac region. I'll have some cool video on these climbs.

I spent 7 seasons Highlead & Skyline logging in SouthEast Alaska in the 80's. Bald Eagle's were just part of our everyday life's. They were everywhere! An amazing, powerful, majestic animal that must be protected. I commend you for your efforts to protect and save this beautiful creature!

Get used to climbing in one of these:
