I think we've been down this road but hey, why knot?

Looks like a standard tandem prusik pro rescue folks would rig(for life support), how does it perform in actual use in trees though?

I'm sure that it could be made to work with the right hitch/cord combos.

For me, I wouldn't go that route though. There is too much sit-back in the chain of connections. Every time the hitches/pulley is moved up the distance between connections is lost.

Between my year of working on hitches to finding the Unicender I thought that some sort of Bachmann Hitch would do the job. The idea does have merit but probably won't be explored because of the Unicender, Hitch Hiker and Rope Wrench tools being available. Too bad though...it could be the cheapest SRT solution.

thanks for the support, thats the reason, that its the cheapest option, after a few years work the boys could then buy the shiney toys.

thanks for stating 'tandem prusik' I was trying to find pictures of it before I posted, cannot find one with a hitchclimber though.

I'm sure its a doddle in the tree, and trying its first outing next week.

I've tried it, I don't use it. I don't remember why exactly but if it was worthwhile I'd probably still use it. I'll stick with a meunter below the hitch, when it makes sense anyway. The best bet is to be familiar with lots of different options and deploy them when it makes sense. Double prussic doesn't make sense in the vast majority if situations.

You would be surprised by how many prominent and influential climbers still will not believe that.

I have modified the idea, shown here on a side lanyard, its a very basic distal with a 5mm rope double wrap prusik.

This idea is so simple, knot/s are free running, locks off perfect everytime, descending is smooth.

This is my latest idea, rads thing, got a grillon underneath the picture, and the rope attached is also a footloop, its easy to move and ascend with prusik and grips tight everytime.

The reason is limit the kit to skeleton setup.
