Does anyone use a levelled laser for hedging?

A crew with a hasagawa ladder making that even a cut is billable at that rate, and I recognize the high level of work he's providing.
I don't disagree...just saying it is good money. Good work deserves good money. I guess my point was more about low equipment cost to get that. If my only goal was maximize profit, and I could do hedges for a total investment under $30k and make $1000 per man-day...game on.

But we'd run out of clients willing to invest in quality for hedges AND I'd get bored out of my mind doing the same thing day in and day out...so we aren't going down that road. We'll do a few.

Good money...that is all ;)

Yeah, I'm speculating that this was an initial reduction and that future hedging would take less time and thus cost less. Is that the case, @Will stein ?

I would also get bored hedging, @ATH ! I occassionally get overgrown viburnum hedges under contract to reduce to 8-12' from 30-40'. I consider it a matter of public safety to take them on since they can't practically be climbed and can't be lopped from the ground without hitting the edge of a roof or hurting someone. It's usually for an existing client or a new intake with other project items. I have two on my horizon right now and I do about one every year or two.

@ colb that is correct. This was the initial height reduction and the next time we trimmed we charged probably $800.00

We don't do hedges on a regular bases so when we do them why not go all out and do the best job possible. This was for an existing client and we do all their tree work. We found out they listed there house for sale for a cool 1.4 million. They can afford it.

@ATH I would get bored out of my mind doing hedges everyday aswell. We like pruning and removals with alittle cabling in the mix. A hedge once a year is enough for us.
