Do I quit the best job I ever got?

Y'all pay a lot of taxes
A lot of people don't. Income from stocks gets taxed at a lower rate than working, or can be used as equity for a loan and write off the interest as bus. expense. Lots of work arounds with selling properties too. The new American dream is making/having enough money to not pay taxes while increasing wealth.

Sad but so true

Typical. Similar things happen here.

My 2¢ is to keep your own gig going and do contract climbing/consulting on the side. You’ll make more capital in the long run and you won’t have to worry about getting laid off. I wish you the best Matias.

That had been my plan when I first got started, but California basically ended contract climbing within the state. The onlh way to do it legally is to perform all the work 100% by yourself, or with your own employees, and then hand the jobsite back to the primary for them to clean up. Contractors may not share crew or equipment. As for doing my own thing, I am really limited in what I can do without my contractors license, and it will really just be a lot easier to finish logging enough hours under someone else, and then I can easily get my own license. I could get insured without it, but there are enough people around here that know to ask if you have your D49 that I don't want to start without it.

Don't worry Caleb, that dream is alive and well. I will be doing my own thing soon enough, and this should make me more money now while I keep building it.
