DMM throw hook.

......
Oh, another thing, I'm effectively one-eyed these days, Hook throwing was the last thing to come back, throwing and setting ropes from the ground is now going well. Hook throwing is now going very well, accuracy and distance all good. the human brain is amazing ;-)

One of my buddies lost 1 eye 30+ years ago AJ. He said Tennis was a bitch at first but since then nothing has stopped him. He even got his small plane license about 15 years ago and still pilots his own plane.

Keep at it, there is nothing holding you back but you.

@Bob Bob; Really great video. I loved the sound track. I only fairly recently acquired the Hook, and this was exactly how my first time out with it went. A total bust. I just recently had my first really productive use of the tool, in which it proved its worth. It is really well suited to more open canopies.

This video was like truth in advertising. Thanks for taking all of the time and trouble to produce it and post it up.

Bob Bob,
Great video and music!
There needs to be a conifer version of this. All of the times I've had success, in spruces mainly, has not been hooking into the target branch with the hook, but letting the hook drop down past the next branch whorl or two and hooking onto a lower limb which is then pulled upwards towards the first branch. Done lots of tree clearing with the hook though.
Glad I'm not the only one . . . The times it's worked - cool. But for me, usually, it's a drama called Moron (me) in a Tree . . . Cannot seem to get the hang of it, first throw anyway.

This was today's giggle . . . :) Thanks

Here's that swing. . .

Thanks BobBob! I always enjoy your videos and have learned a lot from them. I must say, most of what I know about climbing I learned from all you chaps here on TreeBuzz. The climbing I did years ago in industry is so old school now that it is laughably obsolete. Manila rope, galvanized shackles, horrible stiff old leather saddles, clunky wooden pulley blocks. A minor miracle I lived through it.

I have an evil plan for that I will share if I wind up making a hook bag.

Evil plan completed, see post below -

Here is my design for a mag bag to go with my DMM Captain climbing hook. It has some cool features and I am anxious to spend some time testing it over the next few weeks to see if it works as well outside my brain as it does inside.

I am also one step closer to completing my evil plan of faking my own demise, collecting the insurance, and then rejoining my family as a wealthy but similar looking stranger. Enjoy!

Had anyone tried to use this setup with a Mad Rock "SafeGuard", not the Life Guard but the SafeGuard..

Identical in every way too the LifeGuard, with the one difference being, there is no spring involved. Kinda like the GriGri vs Grillon.

As far as catching there will be a difference, however ive been trying to figure out if that would then cause it to be more jumpy upon release.. it shouldn't right?

Send like a good contender..
Very small package, midline, under a hundo & could possible act as a regular lanyard adjust too.

Here's a better view...

It looks good on paper. I'd like to see it in action as a lanyard adjuster or for progress capture on a second climbing system.

I know Brocky uses a LifeGuard as well as a few other ppl.. I've just never heard of ppl using the version that "on paper" seems like it would make more sense for our industry.. Even the SafeGuard description mentions arborist work, whereas the LifeGuard does not. I wonder if it's just one of those scenarios where no one knows the other version is available... I say this as i wasn't aware until i found out by accident... then, once i knew, keep getting LifeGuard results instead of Safeguard when searching... Still haven't found any videos or comparisons of it in action.
