Once the the threads cut the nylon it does not grip as well on a second application. That being said you can tap the nylon end of the nut with a hammer. This will changes the nylon profile for a better grip in a pinch. All nyloc nuts are technically one use only. This is per the ASME manual on fasteners. Just my two cents carry on
Splice away
You never feel like having it on your tail?Sewn or spliced eye is cleaner. 80' is going to be a lot line management! I guess you can always shorten it if you come to that conclusion after trying it out.
Ok, thank you. I thought I was losing my mind. Mine did come with the 6L (12.5" tall) bag.
When WaitakKauri said he had the 3L and the rope and hook fit fine, I was a little skeptical.
Here is the 4L (8.5" tall bag) crammed tight with the Sirius and Hook.

Thanks. Btw, not all 80' are for the hook.So far no. If I think I'm going to want to use the hook I like having it all in one kit/unit. I might change my tune but that's where I'm at now.
Yes, as discovered, I have the 4L, not the 6L.Ok, thank you. I thought I was losing my mind. Mine did come with the 6L (12.5" tall) bag.

Looks like the Kit comes with the 6L, and I've got the 3L.
The 3L is certainly enough for 15m of Sirius 10mm and the hook.
Doh... I mistyped 3L here in this post only, it should read 4L. Just a typo and didn't notice my mistake. I'll blame it on using my iPhone to post while on my early morning bus commute.
Key work, technically. All nyloc nuts are technically one use only. This is per the ASME manual on fasteners. Just my two cents carry on
You are certainly correct, I was simply stating the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) standard I use nylocs twice all the time three and 4 times if needed. Loctite is a great thing. Like Rich said Technically you can't.From an (experimental) aviation perspective, the general guideline is that nyloc nuts may be used more than once, as long as you cannot install or turn them by hand. The official measurement is that the nut must meet the minimum prevailing torque values for that size nut. When you do replace it, use a quality nut that meets standards, not a cheap one from the hardware store. Maybe buy a bag from Aircraft Spruce or Wicks.
