Diameter on footlock sling

I always footlock on 11mm samson velocity and use a 10mm footlock sling.
I am thinking about trying a 9mm sling.
Does that work?
What rope vs. footlock-rusik-sling diameter does peoble use?
And what combination is considered to be the safest / most relaible?

A good general rule is to have you prussic cord about 1/8" smaller than the host line. 1/8" equates to a bit more than 3 mm.

The smaller the hitch cord in relation to the host line the tighter the "grab" and vice versa.

Of course, the relation of hitch to host line material, age, cleanliness and a myriad of other factors play a role as well as knot, climbers attitude and weight. Which may also be related

I use an 8mm prusik on 13mm, 11mm, and 10mm access line. No problems.

... and I'm talking about footlocking a doubled rope, not SRT.

The length of my footlock strop is just long enough to allow me a full body extension without interference. I don't know exactly how long it is.

7mm never stop, till you reach the piont you need. Locks everytime. Anything over 8mm can lead to a slip and fall.

Good luck, and remeber to land on your feet.

Thanks. :-)
I'll give 7mm a go. Do you have a spliced sling (Höllenreich) or a knotted sling??
I have a spliced 9mm and it is pretty relieable, but is has slipped a couble of times. :-( Pretty spooky,
