D‐rings on gear bags: what do you do with them?

Something I've never put to use. Wondering how you use them. Do you clip stuff to them? Keys, water bottles, etc? Any creative ideas? Run accessory loops through them? Ignore them?

I just get annoyed at how they get caught on things. I do my best to avoid buying bags that have them.

Only use mine for 1 purpose, when I'm climbing with my hand saw strapped to my leg I clip the removable buckle clip (with accessory biner) there so I don't loose it.

I attach my gloves and helmet to them. Let’s them air out instead of stinking up the inside of my bag. Sometimes they get in the way but it’s easy enough to stick em in the bag when that happens.

I hang a luggage tag kinda thing on em with info on the rope that’s in the bag: mfgr., in service date, diameter, elongation, mbs - stuff like that. This was useful when we had a lot of ropes kickin’ around both arb, ice and alpine (shortly before wife gave me “that look”).

I use the d ring to clip it to the dmm vault on my saddle when I need to. Throw my bag down when I get where I need to
