Cracked Ash tree removal

The was an ash tree we took down 2 winters ago, just found the pics. For an idea of the rip, check out the top of the pole saw blade. That's on the ground at the trunk and the tip of the blade is about 13' off the ground. It was all just bombed down, put on a 5'x10' trailer behind our JD gator and brought up to the chipper. The big wood was brought up with our Cat.

My boss did the removal, I helped with cleanup. The two halves were tied together with several ropes to try and help stabilize them. Small pieces had to be cut off as bombing an entire head could have produced too much sway with bad results. The TIP was in the tree, it was the tallest tree around(no other would have worked) and there was zero chance for a crane to be used, even an all terrain unit.

did one like that in april over a $250,000 house down in four hours all hand rigged and on to prune two trees in the front yard. jack em together with a come along and ratchet straps. the scariest part is the accent in to the tree to attach the come a long. got to have been the smoothest fl ever, just sayer

I've used our GRCS with a rigging rope through the main forks to pull the split together from the ground before climbing.

It still gets in my head when I climb a tree that I stitched back together.

Be safe.

Those are definitely the ones that make you think twice about your work plan, but they are also the ones that make tree work really interesting.

Glad that it all worked out for you guys. Thanks for sharing the pics.
