The data concerning Sweden and its Nordic neighbors is crystal clear. Sweden's covid strategy has been an unmitigated disaster. Sweden's death rate is 10 times higher than neighboring Norway and Finland, and 5 times higher than neighboring Denmark. Pretty fucking hard to argue with these stats buddy, and it seems that even the King of Sweden agrees that their approach has been a "disaster".

And you got the cart before the horse - government inaction and willful denial by both government leadership and disbelieving citizens allowed the crisis to turn into a pandemic. Want to see how many businesses fail and how many people get depressed without government restrictions when a third of their workforce can't work?

I'm not minimizing the damage - I simply disproved the notion that we are “locked down” as if we live in some authoritarian state. Locked down? I just got back from snow sledding at a public park with over a hundred people there. Locked down? Over a million people a day flew on airplanes this week. That doesn’t sound locked down to me. How many more do you think traveled somewhere by automobile? I’m really starting to wonder who the snowflakes are. Want to experience a lockdown? Try living in China where people were confined to their homes or apartments for weeks. All public transportation shut down. Only one person per household allowed to leave the home once every two days, and only for food or medical attention. No one allowed to leave the city limits. Sorry if you think not being able to sit at Applebee's is a lockdown. In the past nine months I haven’t encountered any roadblocks, no soldiers on the street, no federal marshals asking what my reason for going to Ace hardware was. I’ve been able to drive through multiple states, buy gasoline, book hotel rooms, eat at restaurants. I’ve also traveled to South Korea, The Netherlands, and Australia and no government official sent me to a sanitarium when I got home. Customs agent: “How long were you away? Did you buy anything? Have a nice day.” That was the extent of government intrusion into my personal life. I live in Michigan with a supposedly totalitarian governor yet somehow Michigan was one of a couple of states that held their climbing comp during the pandemic. How could that be if we are “locked down”? And how were 40,000 people allowed to travel from China to the US after Trump’s travel ban?

I’ll save commenting on the conspiracy buffoonery for another day.

Over 60% of American's have a chronic disease, and over 40% have more than one chronic illness.. What do we do with the stats on guns deaths in the US? According to your deeply flawed logic we should blame their co-morbidity instead of the bullet.

I swear, these assholes who act like COVID is a hoax or some other bullshit, or don't realize that healthy people, young and older with no pre-existing conditions are dying too, should see what the nurses and healthcare workers are going through in a COVID ward. And just because someone survives COVID doesn't mean they are fully recovered.

How hard is it to wear a mask and socially distance?

I see too much of "it's all about me and what I want" and less caring for your fellow neighbors.

A portion of people are trying to do right by us all and take precautions so we can get through this, and a large amount of people are only concerned about themselves and how they're not going to be told what to do, and purposely gather or not wear a mask and mock the virus, adding to the stress on our hospitals and health care workers.

The shoe fitting is simply your opinion. I have previously stated that I don't care for either wing, as they're both part of the same corrupt and overbearing bird. Making things political is what keeps us at each other. Divide and conquer. I have no use for it, and believe we'd be much better off with less of it.

Bitching about things, nothing more. I tend to avoid resorting to ad-homs, but if someone is throwing them at me, I'm not going to keep taking it on the chin.

I normally don't judge or get hostile, but I've got little patience for ANYONE who doubts the validity of the seriousness of COVID or the deaths, or tries to downplay it or doesn't want to wear a mask or socially distance.

It is is downright selfish and ridiculous, the amount of people who are are mocking this virus, and can't just take it serious so WE ALL can get through this and get back to our lives.

Facts are a funny thing in this day and age. Not so easily sourced, as big money controls the narrative of all main stream sources and most of government at this point in time. CDC states 94% co-morbidity, leaving 6% of your 330k dying from covid alone, most of these are already above the current average life span in the US.

I have an immediate family member and a good friend who are both RN's. One in the third largest city in the US, the other in the largest city of a moderately populated state. Neither are remotely overwhelmed, and mock the ridiculous reporting and drama that's been playing non-stop on the TV box. Plenty of the same coming from social media as well, but I don't personally know any of those people, so I can't speak on their behalf.

It's difficult to take it all that seriously, based on the mixed bag of nonsense coming from every angle of this whole thing, starting right from the very beginning. The massive contradictions and emotional responses are the real tragedy of this virus (no disrespect to people who have lost friends or family to the "actual" virus or to the hardships created by the government fuck-ups that ensued.) The sociopaths in charge seem to be loving and thriving on this. Rules for thee, but not for me.
