Could'a, Should'a, Would'a

Re: Could\'a, Should\'a, Would\'a

Since you ALT'ed your way up, it probably wasn't a grand option, but a throwline can sometimes save a climb by lifting the wedged FS out of the crotch.

If I knew from the git go it was going to get hung, I'dda hung a throwline from the git go in a higher crotch.

Normally I *think* it'll get hung, so I don't set a throwline, I come down, and it gets stuck. Then I flop the tree, get my FS, and send them a bill for my extra time.

i think that the tube cambium savers are truly an awesome jewel. They reduce friction considerably, never get stuck, and are simple. the only thing that can be a pain is pushing the rope through the tube if you have a spliced end. I love them for a cambium saver for a SRT line. it is also nice for light rigging.

That leather is a P.O.S., You want a tube friction saver get up with the times and try this stuff.

a pic of how you can cut to lenght.

If your rope is spliced, the splice will pull it right out. So, toss that leather junk in the trash and move into the future.

Ropeguide "primus"

Yea thats what I need!!!! how much $120-$200???

Spiroll is $10 for 2' most you need is 6"-10" for set.

Re: Could\'a, Should\'a, Would\'a

Yeah but i guarentee it doesn't work as smooth as the Primus. Also you can't one of those on a spar. Thats were an adjustable and the ropeguide blow all others out of the water in my book. Irreplaceable, in my mind.

Re: Could\'a, Should\'a, Would\'a

hollenreich how long does it last? I just went to their website it is made of polyurethane, which has a melting point of 284 F. most climbing lines melt around 480 F. If i use it to descend on will have melted spiroll on my line?

Re: Could\'a, Should\'a, Would\'a

i like that idea. the leather has served me well though and has lasted well too. not a P.O.S. I will definitly keep an eye out for that stuff. interesting.

cant imagine ever buying a ropeguide primus. SRT really is the way to go IMO.

Re: Could\'a, Should\'a, Would\'a

that stuff doesnt look like its meant to reduce friction on a moving rope. it looks more to protect a stationary rappel line over a jagged edge. it actually tightens around the line. it would be perfect for the SRT application. I wonder if you can instal it from the ground.

It does. after repeated use it becomes brittle and breaks. No melting.
