Seems like a nice trick to have in your toolbox but I prefer just to go onto my 35' lanyard setup as a drt system to lower me out onto the new SP. I keep the lanyard in a pouch so there is 60 seconds of putting rope away or so but other than that and moving the lanyard from my d rings to my bridge ring (not necessary but adds to comfort) its ready to go and fast to put away.
