Compact Bulldog Bone

Either alloy should be fine. The teardrop with clevis pin (only) uses the 1/8 by 1/2
The clevis is 316 alloy

I would like to see one with AR-400S or Titanium side plates ( strong against wear and very good heat conductivity) with Aluminium spines with One deep groove or several shallow grooves acts as heat sink . Spine can be milled from Titanium alloy also but I'm not really sure it's effectiveness until it's gets tested out.

That should helps greatly against heat dissipations and friction wears & over all longevity of it's device.

Also able to add on additional varieties widths of washers so the user can adjust the width of it's device according with various sizes of rope diameters so users are able to adjust it's friction levels thus the speed of movements and that also helps prevents premature wears & tears .

I've gave this same suggestion statements to other ascender devices in a market in a past also.

The spine on the Bone is aluminum 7075 (as are the arms and teardrop). Titanium is heavier than aluminum and I believe the aluminum is a better heat sink. I am willing to make you a titanium Bone, if you will underwrite a batch order. : )

The Scarab device makes a titanium model.

Aluminum does absorbs heat better but it also retains heat at same times and it is very economical choice thus it is favored by various manufacturers .

I have no Idea of titaniums alloy heat absorbtion rates right off from my hat but it does dissipates heat more than any materials out there .

Put a Torch flame over any Titanium metal then touch the material right after. It must be feel cold in touch than steels or Aluminum.

There are many manufacture milling companies in China willing to mill Titanium alloy, Aluminum with each single piece orders or with batch numbers in very very reasonable prices including with material costs that just can't be beat in U.S. when it is so small like yours the Price is very very reasonable even with titanium .

I make custom motorcycle parts.

At first , I made them all by myself with my CNC but then I figured it was too time consuming with trial and errors.

I was making Racing Titanium intake , exhaust valves and valve seats . It needs to with stand racing fuels and combustions heat and super high RPMs of racing motorcycles.

Then someone gave me a insight to use Chinese manufactures .

I was thinking I need to order with them in a batch numbers like you .

No . They made me very fast quote for the one single parts order and also with batch numbers estimate prices quote.

All milled out and polished out complete price quotes . All included pricing.

Damn Cheap.

So small timer parts fabricator like myself with huge doubts with fears I made an first order for a fairly simple parts to them .

They send me back A perfectly milled and polished parts in a mail . Perfectly packaged with out any damage what's so ever.

Just one single piece order for testing out the water and it's still damn cheap ... LoL

We checked everything with all the angles possible. It's complete. Just what I asked them to make. I mean if it's so simple parts so can't go wrong in any way. LoL

I used that parts to assemble it real quick then sold it with same price that I was asking for.

Now , I only send my CAT diagram over the emails and they already know what's the porpoises of it's parts for but it is great help for me to shrink time consuming process and the each parts comes out perfect .

Actually better than me sometimes. LoL

They guarantees with it's results so if it is came out wrong then they just gonna remake it with out any additional charges.

Just don't show them entire CAT diagrams of it's device or finished product is the key if you are afraid of rip off .

But the just give them one piece parts diagram only .

Do not tell them it's purpose tell them it's a parts for custom auto parts or whatever . Tell them it's Uses for completely different subjects .

In that way , you can protect product infringements by them .

I hate using Chinese companies but with it's price and conveniences, and it's results are perfect as product.

So , I figured it's is more profitable and convenience for me. I'm not killing my employees . Because it's just me one man operations . LoL
The time & costs that I saved I can use that for something else on my work.

I can make All made in U.S version parts anytime I want with same designs when my customer really desires that way.
Sometimes they corrects me my CAD drawings because it's faulty even . LoL

But when it comes to easy simple pieces designs then I really don't mind using them .

Finished +- differences were same. and using same materials . Just cutting & saving it's costs & time for me .

I would just use them as making a sample parts for testings then it's really up to you to make with your own or ask them to make it.

Completed a little maintenance on my new vintage bone this afternoon. I replaced the worn spine with a brand new spine from @surveyor and installed some new stainless steel cotter pins.

Hopefully the new spine helps with using the 11.4mm Samson Predator rope I have. Some preliminary testing indoors has shown some promising results but a few long descents are needed to dial everything in again. If it doesn't, I have a new elongated aluminum bollard to try next!View attachment 84977

It's just such an amazing piece of equipment, so robust like a tank yet handles like a race car! Easy to inspect , work on, change parts, work with on rope! everything about that thing just makes me super grateful to be a climber this day in age Gordon Such A Great Man! One of my heros in the climbing innovation department!

@Muggs and others- if you have a quickie, give it a try in combo with one of your BDBs direct to bridge-

For me it greatly improved tending and ease of reach out on limbs- curious to hear others thoughts.

This worked for me on Yale 11.7 elongated bollard quite well. Still tachyon or drenaline now I enjoy alot with the bone.

It's a great product .
Mechanical friction Multi ascender device .

It's just bothers me a lot seeing this picture .

Right spine on a picture is well aged spine piece.

Left spine that is installed one is brand new with just few uses of it

You see the difference on wears ?

Sir I beat the he'll out of these for years , they don't concern me.. they're like a fine wine gotten better with age. Softer lines won't wear them as quick either.

I'm just an dog . LoL
No need to be polite to me. We are just exchanging opinions freely.

It's nothing wrong with the Device. I'm just hoping can be improved a bit or what not that's all about it. No offences to anyone intended.
