Compact Bulldog Bone

I had an awful drag problem also. I'm not an engineer like some of the guys on here so I really don't understand the pivot point placement but Gordon did send me a mod that was like butter but wouldn't geip on decent. He then sent me another one with the spine and the arms milled out a little plus a less dramatic change in the pivot point. I had no problems after that. I changed a bunch of gear at the same time. I moved from a counter productive home made haas to an actual haas that works. Changed my lanyard spot from a neck lanyard to a chest lanyard and everything tends from my chest. Before that I made no upwRd progress without fighting the bone. I hope it's simply a tending spot for you. I'm still working on the hand pressure to find the spot between 100mph drop and granny movements.

Yes it is Tyler.

Steve the speed changes is why I like Vortex in my bones and RR's. I just find that with it I can go from 0 to 100 in a nice even tempo. If I want to go a hair faster or slower it is a smooth change with no sudden stops or plunges.

I actually followed you progression since you got the Bone Steve and my issues are similar to yours. I have been on the haas for while ad i am usually pretty fluid with it- using my wrench or rope runner. I've been using a chest harness since my UNI days back in 2010 so that's not an issues. I think my solution is either a smaller rope or maybe mill a little material off my bone.

Before changing anything, can you slide it smoothly up your rope when you are not attached to it, or does it still have lots of drag?

Well then something is not right. I'm using fat old Vortex and the BDB slides up the rope as easy as the RR or UNI with the medium bollard in place, as long as I am pulling it from the D ring position.

Jimmy. I have also noticed a huge difference between my 200' rope I rarely use and my 160' I use every day. It's still in great shape but it's about a year old and softer and "broken in". The bone loves the new rope. I feel like a slightly stiffer rope performs better as it did with the zigzag. I wonder if it's a thing with mechanicals.

Im starting to think it has something to do with this Tachyon and the the CE color, it just seems to have a different feel then any Tachyon ive had before. This has a very rough feel which I like but is nothing like any of the other tachyon colors ive had. I played around with the it today with the smaller bollard , i think it will be better now.

Hey Steve, I hope u enjoyed your first bone samich. Here's a close-up of the nano/bone combo.

Here's some photos of the ware and tear on the spine. Haven't notice any on the links or bollard. I switched spines about a month ago but not due to ware.

I put my wrench back on , I tried the bone today with the new bollard and the drag was such a drag. I don't know what the deal is but mine is just not as smooth as the bones I seen on videos ..

Gordon the links used on compact bulldog bone are size 60 is this correct ? The next size up are defined as an 80 ? Is this correct and if so can you post a pic with a side by side if possible. What I'm really after and why I'm asking, I'd like to know how would be size wise to run say twin 9mm or some where in this size diameter cord through a bone . Would the bdb boss size be the next link size up ? I wouldn't care for the setup if it had to be a device much larger than the compact bone. I wonder if twin ropes in the 8/9mm range with 1/2 inch bollard would fly through the compact ? Any thoughts much appreciated!

Why do you prefer to attach the nano swivel directly to the bone instead of having a swivel on the bridge? I'm sure it's been discussed before but it's too much to read again. :) Is it to get the friction system closer to the harness? I've been thinking of attaching a smaller carabiner (DMM Shadow) directly to the bridge and wear that one out and have a nano swivel on the bone. Now I've got a DMM small swivel on my bridge.

The CBDB uses #80 - I think the little tending bone Gordon made uses #60 and he did a megabone (boss) with #100 which could be used for rigging potentially. Or fat blokes^h^h^h^h^h^h^guys with loads of gear. Go back a few pages - Gordon posted a pic of the nanobone (which is not the bone with a nano swivel!)

Aluminium is really soft. The 7075 should take wear a lot better. I've got a few titanium pieces laying around... maybe I should get them to the water jet cutter and make a spine. :)
