Compact Bulldog Bone

What has been suggested to me is a double wide Bone with two release arms, one for each rope. The vector forces would be an issue tho I think, as the orientation of the spine and arms would be disrupted. However Johnnie's floating TIP would keep the alignment of both ropes correct.

I suspected this . Figured it wouldnt hurt to put it out there. Those double wide links open from each side I presume . .?Can't be sure from pic in monkeyloves post

They are not necessarily designed with that in mind so I'm not sure. When used for power transfer they are always set as straight as possible to the sprocket so a lose of power any premature wearing is minimized. Think about your bicycle. My bigger concern would not be the links (although still one at the moment) would be the arms themselves. Because the Bone is an open link system there is nothing supporting the arms from being bent open. Not really an issue when all the force is vertical, but certainly a concern when that force starts to become horizontal from twin ropes with opposing ideas.

One release for each rope. I'm curious in the advantage in that as opposed to seperate bones altogether that way angle vectors aren't an issue. I would go with oceans setup for Dsrt in that approach.

I've been envisioning two bones married to a small rigging plate with swivels instead of tear drops and a swivel to join it to the saddle bridge. The plate would need to be wide enough to allow the bones to operate in a full 360 degree twist so that regardless of orientation, they wouldn't interfere with one another.

Edited to expound further.

I think oceans is running a very similar if not identical setup and a few others I don't know I'm sure. I do ok with the Bone and Wrench/ hitch ,but no doubt two of the same is sweet. Especially bdb'$

True that. I'm too new to DRT and my tree jobs have been too few lately (last 6-8 months) for me to do anything to slow productivity. When it warms up I've got a few trees pegged for rec climbs using DRT. I'm sure I'll understand more of how to keep things moving quickly once I've gotten more dangle time under my belt.

Sounds like the perfect time to get it going man ..too few jobs , that's what I do , just go climb to get my fix. You'll warm right up. What I like about rec climbing is the work doesn't dictate my climb , you can pace what you want to do and stay warm , not wait for ground man to dice up the branch and get it out of the damn way while you look up at the sky and pick your nose.

August 6 will be the 1 yr birthday of the initial launch of the Compact Bulldog Bone. I think we need to throw a party for what is truly an awesome tool! Thank you, thank you Gordon. Everyone I've shown it to has been speechless!

Let's make a birthday cake out of those sandwiches. :)

Aaron, I know, I've never planned a birthday 6 months in advance. When I looked at the 1st post in this thread I couldn't believe it was only 6 months old. 82 pages...geez! That's saying something right there.
